What to do and see in Madrid, Community of Madrid: The Best Food & Drink

May 3, 2022 Esmeralda Fenner

So many of Madrid’s buildings look like castles, you’ll think you’ve stumbled into a fairytale. Even City Hall is astounding, with its white pinnacles and neo-Gothic features. A self-guided architecture tour can begin by the great bear statue in the central Puerta del Sol. Wander by the fanciful Royal Palace before absorbing the natural beauty of Retiro Park, then visit one of the city’s many museums. You could happily cap off each day by nibbling on forkfuls of paella while sipping Spanish rioja.

We had an outstanding class with Eduardo cooking paella, crema Catalan and making sangria. It started with an extensive and informative market tour - Eduardo knows so much, not just about the food being sold (and what we bought) but also gave us background on markets in Madrid, fishing patterns and more. We then went on to make a delicious meal - again learning a lot from Eduardo and having the chance to get to know him as well. The space is beautifully put together for the class too. Highly recommend on a trip to Madrid!

Bodega Qubel

The ecological ecological project Qubél Winery arises in 1992 from an initiative of the Gosálbez Orti family, framed in a personal conviction of maximum respect for nature and biodiversity. Since then, complementary activities have been carried out closely related to the production of Qubél wines, such as visits and activities in the vineyard and in the winery, sharing the company's technical knowledge, its philosophy and the passion of its founders. In 2006 the Enoteca Qubél was built, which adds a new service to the regular viticulture and winery activities; This space offers our visitors, professionals, wine enthusiasts and experts, the possibility to enjoy and deepen the world of wine, whether for business or pleasure. Introductory courses and tasting sessions are offered through guided tastings by our qualified staff. In 2018, we consolidated our training line with the creation of Qubél Wine Center, and becoming a WSET Approved Program Provider.
