Weingut Jordan

Weingut Jordan is a family wine estate in Great Reipersdorf near Pulkau in the “Weinviertel”. Since 1858, there has been a noteworthy tradition of winemaking in Groß-Reipersdorf near Pulkau. Since 2010 Simone Jordan runs the family winery in the fourth generation, she is actively supported by her partner and her parents. To be winemakers, for the family means to capture the fascination of nature to be sensitive with it and bring the best quality of grapes into the cellar. The Motto of the winery is “Outstanding wines are made in the vineyard and not in the cellar” The region around Pulkau fascinated with soils from granite to fine-grained loess soils at the foothills of the Manhartsberg. These conditions are the source for red wine affinity of the wine estate. Overall, we make wine from about 12 hectares, the vineyards are divided half in red and white. Our two main grape varieties are Zweigelt and Grüner Veltliner. The white wines are aged exclusively in stainless steel tanks and and the red wines according to variety and vineyard in large or small oak barrels.

Weingut Familie Pitnauer

Thirty years ago Hans and Edith Pitnauer began a quality revolution at their winery in the little-known Carnuntum wine region. Today Carnuntum is one of Austria’s leading red wine appellations. Countless awards testify to the estate’s rapid development over the last three decades. Edith Pitnauer takes loving care of the estate’s 24 hectares of vineyards. Hans works wonders in the winery, vinifying his renowned Appellation Wines: "Franz-Josef" the winery’s top cuvée, was named in honour of Hans’s ancestors, who laid the foundation of the winery’s modern-day success. "Bienenfresser" is one of the most famous estate wines. Its origin is the appelation Bärnreiser and the Pitnauer's planted their first vineyard for this wine in 1982. The friendly family is always working hard, providing mutual inspiration and carrying on the spirit of this family wine estate. At the beautiful property in the centre of Göttlesbrunn, visitors always receive a warm welcome (by appointment only).

A fascinating journey into the world of wines. The tour takes you into the vineyards with explanations about various sorts grown in the Wachau then an indoor tour of the area on a floor map. Wine tasting, of course all along the way and then a fantastic 3-D movie about the growing of wine in the area. It all concludes with the opportunity to purchase wines --- and taste others, if you'd like. The tour is offered in German and English, however for English, be sure to check as that's not every day. The man doing the tour spoke excellent English and the tour was great. This is a MUST if you're in the area and interested in wine.
