The Magic Show at The Roosevelt

The Magic Show is an intimate performance in a hidden, unmarked theater at The Hollywood Roosevelt. Franco Pascali is a magician, mentalist, creator, and performer. At 21, he’s a true phenom in the world of magic - with frequent performances at The Magic Castle and high profile events around the world. The Magic Show at The Roosevelt is a demonstration of Franco’s most powerful, impossible magic - presented in an intimate, elegant theater.

The Baked Potato

Reviewed By BorderlessTraveler - Jakarta, Indonesia

To visit LA's The Baked Potato is a pilgrimage for musician and music lover. This is where the best of the best LA musician play and let loose. This is the place where the musician expressed their love of music and hang with other musician. Don't expect them to play your favorite tunes (although they will do it) and expect a long-jam full of improvisation to really go outside the musician's comfort zone. This place only seat, maybe 80 people and a lot of standing room, but the place is always packed. The food is mainly Baked Potato (duhhh) with different topping and it is tasty. This place have certain "Aura" where everyone from the legendary 70's LA Wrecking Crew, 80's LA Session Master (Toto, Landau, Ritenour, Holdsworth, etc), rockstar (Eddie Van Halen, etc), Jazz great (Dave Grusin, Larry Carlton, etc) to the latest star such as Joe Bonamassa have played in this place. The sound is loud, but that's is what you want to hear. Because such a small space, you literally sitting or standing not 3 feet from the player and it is such a joy to see your star idol just playing their heart out. There are so many recording made in this small club and it will say "Live at Baked Potato". Simply put, The Baked Potato can be put in the same level as Whiskey A Go-Go, The Rainbow, Ronnie Scott (UK) where the wall have so much story to tell if they can talk.

This was a very fun experience. Seeing a movie and having it soundtracked with a live orchestra is amazing. The venue for this particular presentation was at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in DTLA. Valet parking is offered and the fact that it is part of a hotel doesn't hurt either.

The Theatre at Ace Hotel

Just go to this venue to see the theater. We went for a movie discussion. I was not prepared for how gorgeous the inside of this theater is. I have never really seen anything like it. It was the first theater built for the United Artist movie company. I was so excited to see an old movie palace in such great condition. No matter what the event is you are going to at this theater, just go and enjoy the wonderful theater itself, it's a real treat.

Loved the show and more fun if you are sitting in the front rows where you get wet but have an interactive experience with the staff of the show which is amazing. The special effects, stage, actors and props used are all awesome. A must see.
