Just one hour from Brussels is Liege, a historical city on the river Meuse, dating back to Charlemagne. With a wonderful central location only one hour from Brussels by train or car, Liege must-see sites are the Prince-Bishops’ Place, Liege-Guillemins Station, Museum of Walloon Life, Church of Saint-Jacques, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. The House of Metallurgy and Industry of Liège (MMIL) introduces to the steel and industrial heritage in a real old factory dating back to 1845. 2,500 m² to discover the industrial heritage of Liège. With a visit, you will travel through time and will be introduced to great names of Liège’s industry such as Zénobe Gramme or John Cockerill. The permanent exhibition rooms: They reveal the secrets of metallurgy and energies through the ages. With your family or in a group, the numerous collections of the Maison de la Métallurgie will tell you their history, in the company of a guide or guided by our visitor’s notebook. The temporary exhibition: With its temporary exhibitions, the MMIL displays collections usually kept in its reserves. For a defined period of time, these collections shed new light on specific themes, in line with the museum’s missions. being born in this city, it was for me a pleasure to visit this museum, telling the story of the transportation in the city of liege, it is well and the vehicles are in top shape, there is some caleches, fron the 17century and we can follow the progression of modernism, thru the years, i saw a' Trolleybus' which was a vehicle electric,it took his power from line running above the road, i probaly use this specific one in my youth 55 years ago, fee is very reasonable and it is must to see in Liege

Archeoforum de Liege

Right in the heart of the city, beneath Place Saint-Lambert, lies one of the largest urban archaeological sites in Europe. The Archéoforum is a major heritage site which gives a unique view of the history of the City and its Principality with a new itinerary full of mystery, surprises and things to be learnt. The project, designed for children and grown-ups alike, is the perfect starting place for visits to Liège. Children and grown-ups, the amateurs and the curious, at the Archéoforum there is a place for everyone to learn about the evolution of the Ardent City from its origins to the present day. Equipped with an interactive tablet (iPad) or with an experienced guide at your side, you will discover the traces left by the first inhabitants of the region during prehistory, the remains of an imposing Roman villa, the crypt built on the site of the assassination of Saint Lambert and the foundations of the various churches and cathedrals which symbolised the power of the Principality over almost 1,000 years. A brand-new scenography with a strong educational flavour showcases never-seen-before archaeological pieces and dynamic recreations. The site is excavated regularly and hosts original exhibitions focusing on the evolution of societies.
