The north section in Leonia has been open for many years but last year, the southern part was renovated, a new environmentally friendly bridge was installed to cross the Overpeck; new playing fields in the Ridgefield Park section, walking/biking/jogging trails begin in Leonia and head over to Ridgefield Park. Amphitheater on the Ridgefield Park side has had concerts. Watch the horses go through their paces on the Leonia side. Dog park is on the north side, kayak/canoe launch on the south side. Load s of parking and beautiful views of the creek/lake. Incredible to have this treasure 5 minutes from the GWB. Bus 172 from the NY side of the GWBBS takes you down Fort Lee Road to the entrance of the park (or Rockland Bus line 11A runs on Grand Avenue and stops at Fort Lee Road (2 blocks east of the park). If you're in the Ridgefield Park side watching the kids in the playing field and look east, you'll see the skyline of midtown Manhattan (and the World Trade Center).
I have been coming to Overpeck Park since the 1990’s. There are two (2) huge connected tracks for one to walk, to run, and to bike ride. There are also plenty of sports courts, such as for basketball and for tennis. The parking is sufficient. There are good views of the nearby waterways and of the hills with the tall buildings which lead up to Fort Lee. Sometimes, entertainment may occur here, which is especially true during the warmer months. Interstate 95 is very close to the park.

Just minutes from Manhattan, Field Station: Dinosaurs is a world-class family attraction that combines cutting-edge science with a Broadway producer’s flair to create a one-of-kind experience that’s thrilling, educational and fun. Named “One of the World Best Spots for Dinosaur Lovers” by Fodor’s, the Field Station is trip back in time with over thirty realistic hand-sculpted dinosaurs brought to life by the brilliant engineering of the world’s leading roboticists and the imagination of our paleo-artists. The science and story of the dinosaurs is vividly presented in Bergen County’s beautiful Overpeck Park, on the banks of a scenic creek and surrounded by natural woods. At the center of it all is the fun, the joy and the wonder of dinosaurs. Our expedition takes every family on an adventure – full of mystery, surprise and a sense of awe.
