Wine tasting at its best with the expert staff at Port of Leonardtown Winery. Wine is crafted here to perfection from imported grapes. The Wine Club offers quarterly tastings for a modest fee of $55 which includes 3 bottles of wine. The tasting room is open to public on a regular basis and live music is offered in the patios area on weekends.

Rhis is a seriously great option for a fun time with kids. They really offer a great value for the price and plenty of things for young ones to spend hours either dashing through the massive corn field maze or experiencing the petting zoo. Well done!

I have been to Calvert Marine Museum before, but only for live concerts. (They have an indoor and outdoor venue for concerts, have been to quite a few). This was the first time we visited the museum itself. So much Chesapeake Bay/Mid Atlantic history presented in interesting and engaging exhibits, including an aquarium and interactive exhibits where you can touch various aquatic life. And three of the most entertaining otters around. Super knowledgeable staff, can answer any question. The admission also includes touring the Drum Point lighthouse, which for me was the best part of the museum. Commissioned in 1893 at the mouth of the Patuxent River in the Chesapeake Bay, and decommissioned in 1962, it was saved from decay and vandalism by the Calvert County Historical society and moved to the Calvert Marine Museum in 1975. It has been totally restored and is incredible to see. Our guide knew so much of it's history, including the stories of the families that lived there (lighthouse keepers and their families). A great visit!

We stopped in the middle of the week , so not busy. We had a very knowledgable young man take us on the house tour. Not only is this like a small scale Mt Vernon, the original owner was friends with Washington. If you are interested in colonial history this would be a stop you should make.

I learned about California Total Body Massage through one of Gwynne's flyers. I receive a very noticeable benefit from my monthly massage treatments. I have a lot of medical issues, one being major back problems and Gwynne has helped me in dealing with extremely abnormal tight muscles and I have come to the conclusion that regular massages helps me greatly. The atmosphere of her treatment area is very soothing and relaxing. Some people finds it a "turnoff" that a health care professional works out of their homes, but DON'T. Gwynne runs her business, I believe as any other therapist. She is very specific in her treatment care and I highly recommend her to anyone.

This aviation museum has 25-30 static aircraft to view inside and outside. It is located right outside the gate for Pax River Naval Air Station. There are helpful docents here to answer your questions. They have a small gift store and theater with a few stories of naval aviators. Admission is $9.00 or $7.00 for seniors and military

From our hotel in Solomons, we had a picturesque and enjoyable drive to Colton’s Point, the shrine, and the museum.
Volunteers on duty were extremely welcoming and enthusiastic. Their narratives and ability to answer promptly and completely our queries impressed us both. There is a great deal of early colonial history packed in this little building, and the shrine on the adjacent lawn is touching, indeed.
We spent just over two hours here, and we both felt it would have been a shame not to have toured the premises. Sort of icing on the cake for our most enjoyable visit.

This gallery is across the street from La Rive Breton. Looking from the outside one does expect much until.....you enter. The gallery is made up of local of artists. I have visited this gallery many times. They offer private shows. I have followed many. My favorite is Carmelo Ciancio, scratch board and John Young, photographer, who is recently left for a gallery in Va.
The local artistic talent is Southern Maryland is awesome. People don't expect great works down here....it should be filled with unsophisticated farmers. Not anymore. The local art created is phenomenal. Take for instance Carmelo's breath of work. His African wild life animal collection is always thrilling to see up close. His detail of animals jump to life. He has a Gorilla that appears in black and white, starring you in the face with his arm across the chest as if to say....'I dare you.' The hair looks like it would not be something I would wear as a coat. The eyes reveal a sense of power and courage. You don't play with this guy. It was moved to a North beach gallery. Carmelo loves the Chesapeake wildlife. His duck collection is amazing. I have bought many of his ducks and a blue heron.
Other artists work in Watercolor, oil, acrylic, ceramic, and glass. Each artist's personality are revealed. All of a sudden the gallery appears to grow in size. The breath of work is seen only in fine art galleries normally found in the big city. Leonardtown is silly small but it holds surprises. The gallery sells hand made jewelry. If you look at he wire work in some pieces one has to ask the question how did they do that? My only complaint would be if you use a gemstone and design something out of this world gorgeous, why didn't you use a finer gem? I know the answer. The artist piece would not sell. People don't want to spend large amounts of money , over $100 for a handmade silver ring or bracelet. If you think of the time, energy, cost of materials ....these artist invest hundreds of hours that we the viewer never see or appreciate. I want the gallery to know I do. I also know I don't have the patience. People who visit Leonardtown should walk in and be surprised. If only I had more wall space and three sets of hands!

Love the wings, the drafts and the atmosphere - always busy! Parking can be a bit tough as you have to troll the neighborhood streets, but it's worth it.
