As NT members we have been to Ascott several times as it is only 5 miles from where we live.
Ascott is relatively small in scale compared to other NT properties but the grounds and Gardens are immaculate with the topiary exhibits being the highlight.
The house is also very nice inside but access is limited to some downstairs parts only as the Rothschild family are still in residence. There are many well informed guides inside the house who will enthusiastically answer questions and describe the history of the place.

The experience for children is good. However this is overshadowed by the admission charge. Also who ever is running the cafe needs to sort out table cleaning .This lunchtime no visible table clearing was taking place. Unsure wether I would revisit

Stockgrove Country Park

Reviewed By Jmurdoch726 - Milton Keynes

Over the years we have visited Stockgrove Park many times, an absolute paradise for dog-walkers. The sun was out this morning (a Saturday) and we bought our Yorkshire Terrier, Alfie, with us. You have to park within the allotted car-park, entering via a barrier, and remember to have £2 to operate the barrier when you leave. There are walks around the lake and up over the open hillside area, with plenty of places to rest and sit if you need to stop during your walk. We encountered lots of dogs on our walk which were friendly towards our little dog. It's advised to keep your dog on a lead. You must also pick up any mess your dog makes and place it in the bins provided so remember to take poop bags with you. There is a fenced-off 'family area' which is kept 'dog-free' near the visitor and café area. The café serves a range of snacks, baguettes, toasties, tea, coffee and cans of drink. The bacon baguettes we had were excellent. There is, on occasions when it's sunny, as it was when we visited, an ice-cream van. Good, clean toilets, fresh drinking water for dogs and a visitor centre (which we didn't visit on this occasion) giving you details of the wildlife to be found in and around the park. There is an area of the wood which is an S. S.S.I. (Special Site of Scientific Interest.) The paths are generally good, but some are not suitable for prams or pushchairs.

As part of the Chiltern way, this is a well trodden path. On a clear day there are spectacular views over Aylesbury vale. Model plane enthusiasts make the most of the wind which is fairly constant, as it's very exposed. Lovely walks from here across to Ashridge or down to Ivinghoe and back via Edlesbourgh.

On a breezy day, great to watch people fly their kites with a back drop of the gliders.
Plenty of wildlife and there are certainly plenty of birds of prey taking advantage of the thermals.
Spacious National Trust building providing refreshments after a decent walk.

Bletchley Park, Home of the WW2 Codebreakers, was once Britain's best kept secret and is now a vibrant heritage attraction open daily to visitors to learn how the Codebreakers' breath-taking achievements helped shorten WW2 by up to two years.

A visit to Bletchley Park does not disappoint. We were fascinated by every aspect of the displays and it certainly brought to life what we have learnt over the years.
The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful. Although we have read books about code breaking nothing comes up to the experience of being at Bletchley Park.
The only slight disappointment was lack of seats for the occasional recovery time needed for such a vast organisation
We highly recommend a visit.

Over 400 acres of woodland, heathland and meadows for all to enjoy, with heronry visible from the Visitor Centre providing a secure breeding ground for around ten pairs of grey herons each spring. Woodland walks with fairy trail, Giant's Chair, family cycling and horse-riding routes, dogs welcome. Tree Tops cafe situated in the Visitor Centre. We run a number of events throughout the year - see our website for details. Rushmere Country Park is managed by The Greensand Trust on a not for profit basis - all funds raised are invested into the running of the park.

We enjoyed a good few miles walking here today, it was just a shame that most of the time, we hadn't got a clue exactly where we were, or where we were going. Much better trail marking is needed, more signposts, directions etc, as at the moment it's all a bit wayward if you wander more than 100 yards from the car park and cafe. The paths also don't seem to be very well maintained, as even the popular paths near the visitor centre were muddy and poorly drained. Lots of potential, and a clean, roomy cafe serving nice coffee, lthough an extra 40p for decaffeinated on top of an already hefty £2.60 for a cappecino is pushing it a bit.

Grove Theatre

Went as a family to the Christmas Pantomime and really enjoyed the performance, it had everything a good pantomime should have. For a small theatre the set up and scenery were excellent, which helps with the overall production. Can not fault the theatre for location, facilities, production and comfort, well worth a visit.
