What to do and see in Legian, Indonesia: The Best Places and Tips

November 14, 2017 Toi Mattera

Low-key Legian is the picture of relaxation. Just about the only action the beach gets is from the evening fire spinners, whose quick hands pass orange balls of light through the sky. Surfers, body boarders and sunbathers share the calm sands happily. There are plenty of markets, cafes and restaurants to satisfy your cravings for merchandise and meals. If you itch to mingle with locals, you might be able to join in the game of football that happens nightly on Blue Ocean Beach.

Bali Sea Turtle Society

Reviewed By SHILPI D - New Delhi, India

When mankind wreaks havoc on nature and society, few good people collectively come to protect nature. Hence Bali Sea Turtle Society was formed with an objective to protect marine life and contribute towards saving the planet. The conservation site has thousands of baby turtles in a place along with eggs ready to hatch. Each turtle is marked for release in the sea, ofcourse leaving it on its own fate. Every evening turtles are released in the sea and tourists participate in the activity free of cost. They are given baby turtles in a container and all of these are released in one go. Cheering up the tiny creatures and seeing them take their first plunge in water is a priceless experience. Kudos to the Sea Turtle Society for the efforts they are making. They also educate people about the life cycle and biology of Turtles and how they influence marine life. The center is open all days from morning through evening, but the activity of releasing turtles takes place at 4 pm daily at Kuta Beach, close to the center.

Legian Street

Reviewed By colin h - Darlington

Legian Street stretches for miles and depending on which section you are in and what time of day, will depend on the atmosphere. Kuta end is busy most timesof the day with plenyty of lively bars clubs and restaurants. Shopping is targeted at tourists. Seminyak end is a bit more up market than Kuta. Nicer shops and restaurants. The middle section tends to be quiter on an evening but bustling enough during the day. Bars shops and restaurants will be found.

Its a meeting point for locals surviving to make a $, tourists shopping and snapping pictures. This area is sacred ground to a tragedy that happened to many families and especially locals in 2002. Its a place to pay respect and reflect on our own mortality. A must visit for for all.
