We found this castle by accident tucked away at the back of some houses, at the entrance to a lovely castle park. On the day we visited the castle was 'hosting' a wedding and reception so we didn't get to look inside. However, we ambled around the parkland and ponds, had a drink in the gate house cafe and a picnic by the children's play area. It was a lovely way to spend an sunny afternoon picnic/park and walk - dog friendly too!

Als je in de buurt bent moet je dit museum bezoeken. Al is het alleen al voor het mooie gebouw waar het huisvest. Ook de collectie oudheden, archeologie en zelfs mammoetbotten is interessant.

From the 55,900 ton Saga NN to the 168,000 tone Quantum of the Seas, the Meyer Werft has built many of the seas well known Cruise ships for companies like P&O and Celebrity cruises. And, as our title suggests, the last cruise ship we embarked on was also built here – the 69,000 ton Oriana.
Our guide for this tour was actually Dutch but her German sounded perfect to us and she had very clear diction – important to those of us who do not have German as our first Language. There was no other Language available for our visit but I did notice that the films were available with a English commentary so I presume that there are some tours in English (and presumably, in Dutch as well).
We were guided through the process of cruise ship building from concept to completion (the indoor dry dock really is big enough for the Quantum of the Seas to be finished there) as well as the history of the company itself.
Well worth a visit if you are interested in shipbuilding, modern style.

I am a regular visitor in the region and I was delighted to visit the Leeraner Modell- und Spielewelt for the first time. It was a nice surprise to find an indoor attraction where people of all ages could spend a couple of hours - especially in bad weather.
I have to congratulate the team who have set-up this miniature land. It is a monstrous project if one thinks of the technology behind its set-up and running. The fact that everything is in small scale doesn't make it any easier, on the contrary, I can only begin to imagine the hours of work it took to create all the models representing real buildings, monuments, landscape etc. The way of life is depicted in a caricature way, combining important elements in the region, such as farming, industry, and festivals.
I totally desagree with the negative review I have found on this site. To me, not being a local, but with a certain degree of knowledge of the area, its surroundings and its customs, this attraction is a great escape for children, grown-ups, even seniors. My experience in the cafeteria was fine, with a good hot cup of coffee and a delicious (and huge) apple pie. I do agree, that certain models, such as the cruise ship are not accurate in scale. But if we start looking at details, then the trucks and cars moving about also do not move in a real manner. I personally did not mind, as I concentrated on the overall concept and the huge investment in recreating models of the nearby towns and villages. On the other hand, there are some amazing details not to be overlooked either, such as the lighting from the street lamps, which are sheding their light on the ground in a very realistic way.
As I wrote in the beginning of this review, the imagination of the artists behind this project is to be congratulated. What now remains to be seen is some more animation that would keep visitors more involved.
I would certainly recommend this attraction and look forward to returning to discover some more details that I missed the first time.

Viel zu sehen gibt es im Teemuseum. Nettes Personal, ist gerne bereit Auskünfte zu geben. Dicht an der Fußgängerzonge gelegen ist es schnell zu Fuß zu erreichen.

Zum ersten Mal in der Stadt Leer und natürlich lockte das Wasser und somit auch die angebotene Hafenrundfahrt. Wir hatten auch ein bissel Glück mit dem Wetter, denn ab und an blitzte die Sonne zwischen den Wolken mal hervor.
Man sollte vorher dort anrufen, was wir auch gemacht haben, und es war noch was frei. Wir kauften unsere Tickets ein paar Minuten vor Abfahrt (14.00 Uhr). Die Hafenrundfahrt dauert 1 Stunde und kostet 10 Euro pro Person.
Freundliche Begrüßung an Bord und die Fahrt war wirklich sehr unterhaltsam und informativ. Auch die Kinder wurden mit einbezogen und durften mal alle kurz das Steuer übernehmen - war wirklich ganz nett.
Wir haben viel erfahren über Leer und den kleinen Hafen und viele schöne Eindrücke mit nach Hause genommen.
Wir können diese Hafenrundfahrt wirklich nur empfehlen!

Zusammen mit anderen Radfahrern, Fußgängern wartet man darauf, dass der Fährmann überholt. Trotz der kurzen Fahrt ist es ein Erlebnis wie die Pünte bewegt wird.

Das heute alte, Rathaus in Leer wurde seiner Zeit,durch eine großzügige Geld-Spende eines Bürgers der Stadt ermöglicht.
Fast die Hälfte der Baukosten, sind somit von privater Spende finanziert worden.
Im Eingangsbereich vom Rathaus wird an einer Gedenktafel dem edlen Spender gedankt.
Am 11 September 1890 wurde mit dem damaligen Neubau des Rathauses begonnen.
Am 01. Juni 1893 war das Rathaus fertig gebaut.
Offizielle Einweihung der Rathauses, fand am 29 Oktober 1894 statt.
Von außen betrachtet, ist das Rathaus in Leer, ein imposantes Bauwerk, das aus Backsteinen errichtet wurde.
Betritt man den Eingangsbereich vom Rathaus, fällt einem sofort die schöne
Gewölbe-Malerei auf.
Durchschreitet man den Eingangsbereich, kommt man aus dem Staunen nicht mehr raus.
Das Rathaus könnte auch von seiner Innenausstattung her, durch die schönen Wand und Gewölbe-Malerei, ein Herrschaftliches Schloss sein.
Die prächtigen Ausmalungen an den Wänden, strahlen eine intensive Farbe aus, man kann gar nicht Glauben, das sie schon über 100 Jahre
so schön gestaltet dem Betrachter zur Verfügung stehen.
Man erklärte uns, das mangelnde Tageslicht hat die Wand-Farben so gut erhalten.
Was man mit Füßen tritt, müsste eigentlich in Mitleidenschaft gezogen werden.
Doch die Bodenfliesen, die 100 Jahre Dauerbelastung ausgesetzt waren, sehen heute noch genauso gut erhalten aus, wie die Wandmalereien, an Decken und Wänden.
Die Bodenfliesen sind von Villeroy & Boch das Design hat eine Zeitlose - Eleganz, von außergewöhnlicher, guter Qualität vorzuweisen.
Die damalige Firma Valleroy & Boch wurde schon 1748 gegründet und es gibt sie heute immer noch. Qualität führt halt zum Erfolg, so einfach kann das sein.
Das Treppenhaus ist prächtig Ausgestattet, und die Wandbeleuchtung lässt alles im richtigen Licht erstrahlen.
Der große Sitzungssaal mit den drei Königsbildern die im Fenster-Bild verewigt sind,
die interessanten Zunftzeichen an den Wänden des Sitzungssaals,oder das
Trau-Zimmer, mit den Bildern der Bürgermeister, sind sehr sehenswert.
Wir waren schon so oft in Leer,jetzt Ende des Jahres 2017, haben wir es zum ersten mal von innen gesehen.
Machen sie nicht den gleichen Fehler, wenn Sie in Leer zu Gast sind, müssen Sie sich unbedingt dieses schöne Rathaus, auch von innen betrachten.
Dieser Besuch lohnt sich, ein kostenloses Vergnügen das man sich nicht entgehen lassen sollte.
