Lebanon, is a city in and the county seat of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 25,477 at the 2010 census, a 4.2% increase from the 2000 count of 24,461. Lebanon is located in the central part of the Lebanon Valley, 26 miles (42 km) east of Harrisburg and 29 miles (47 km) west of Reading.

A self-guided driving tour of the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area provides time for viewing fauna and flora. Birdwatching was the primary purpose of the visit, but the area provided so much more to enjoy. The Visitors" Center provides displays, a bird feeding station that is viewed from indoors with binoculars provided, programs, and a staff that is willing to provide oral and printed information. Bird lists and flower lists are provided if you keep checklists of what you observe. No matter how many times you visit or do the driving tour there is something to be discovered. We will return to visit.

Mount Gretna is a summer resort with a lake and a summer theater. Each year it has an annual house tour which is usually the first week in August. I had taken the tour maybe 10 years ago. I persuaded my husband to come with me this year because he had never been there.
It is very hard to describe Mount Gretna. It started as a religious/artist community in the 1890's. Many of the cottages/houses are from that time period. People built them as summer cottages and a lot have neither heat nor air conditioning. Some of the houses are very modest and others are quite large. They are very close together, built in to the woods. Many of the houses which were on the tour were either for rent or for sale. I felt like I was on a realtor's "open house" tour. Unfortunately, it cost $25 per person.
It was a pretty drive from Reading to Mount Gretna, but I cannot say I could recommend the house tour.

Terrific place preserved for our enjoyment of our heritage and history. We spent about 45 minutes viewing the artifacts produced at the furnace including cannon balls and cannon. This furnace produced cannons for George Washington and his army. Then at 11:00 we started our very informative tour with a short film history before moving out to view the furnace and its amazing parts and pieces.

The Opera fudge...did not dissapoint! It was awesome! It reminded me of an chocolate covered ice cream bar...melted in your mouth! The carmels were amazing and they had an assortment of covered pretzels...which I did not try, but they sold the plain pretzels they get from a pretzel baker in town and they were awesome by themselves!
If you have a sweet tooth you have to satisfy and you want to try something than Hershey, check this local place out. Amazing!

We were having brunch in the next town over on a sweltering day & phoned Michael on a lark, and he arranged for us to do the murder mystery 30 minutes later. It turned out to be the perfect diversion for three adults and three children ages 9-14. None of us had done an escape room before. Michael recommended the murder mystery, where you investigate a murder that actually occurred in the area in the 19th century. Michael is an engineer and he wired up the whole room (you can't tell though - except for the hidden electronics, there's nothing anachronistic) so it ends up being a multi-sensory experience, and you need to really explore and come up with creative ideas for how to solve each successive riddle. We solved it in 45 minutes with 4 clues (though I'm sure we could have done it in three in under the hour!). We're looking forward to returning for Three Mile Island and Houdini's Escape.

We enjoyed the historical part of the Renaissance Faire the most. Highlights for us included the drama of the King/Queen at start of day, the Royal Falcons exhibit (aviary), the archery demonstration (very knowledgeable), the umbrella/walking stick vendor, the jousting, the fire/whip Bonk man, the German musicians, the strings musicians in Pastimes, the artillery, scenery and all the actors and actresses! We enjoyed it very much. I would try to attend on non-Halloween weekend in future since many of the costumes were not Renaissance related. I didn't care for the occult influence (tarrot card reader). Water fountains would be helpful too. Bakery far too crowded and should have a larger venue. Bees were a nuisance. Overall a great day and plenty to do and see. I would recommend you try this event!

We visited late March on a Saturday with out-of-town guests. The youngest was 10 yrs and not really interested; though other 10 yr olds may have a bit more interest. The volunteer guides were very informative giving history and many stories. I went away knowing more & feeling good that I was supporting a worthy cause.
There is a free tour if you can show ID that you are a military veteran. Children under 16 yrs are not permitted to take the tour in the evening; perhaps they may be scared with the wolf howlings.
The interest in the wolf sanctuary has grown through the years from 12 to 250 visitors in about 12 years! There is no outside (government or private corp funding); so your ticket goes directly to the wolf preservation. Private tours of 2 or more can be arranged; but are booked solid for the next 6 months. On that tour you can see all 47 wolves. The best time to visit is in the cooler weather or probably evening as they are nocturnal animals. Several were awake and active when we visited Sat afternoon. Wear boots or old shoes...There is one steep hill at the end to climb.

My sister and I went Sunday to see The Pianomen, A Tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John. All I can say is it was great. Now for the theatre itself, praise to the venues it brings, the setting in a beautiful area, great viewing from most seats. However, the seats themselves leave much to be desired. Picture the middle seat of a plane and you know how tight they are. I really felt crushed and although I don't mind being that close to my sister, the stranger on my left was too close with his arm against mine, his thigh touching mine. Will this keep me from future visits., no. But I don't have to like this.

Governor Dick is a great destination for hiking, biking, bouldering, cross country skiing, horseback riding, and just being outdoors! Loads of trails on a thousand acres of park land. Also connects to Lebanon Valley Rail Trail and adjoins State Game lands. Horseshoe Trail bisects the park.

This is our Saturday AM chill place after a rough week - once you start going on a regular basis, its impossible to stop. Great fresh food, coffee/drinks, produce, meats/cheese, yummy bakery items, ice cream - limited number of businesses but those that are there are really quality merchants with super friendly owners/staff at each stand, and you are guaranteed to find something there to eat that you love. This is a small hidden gem in Lebanon, and we all need to support our local businesses to keep them here. Oh, and if you think you are not a candy lover or you don't have a sweet tooth or you are dieting and will never eat sugar again, just try to get by Candy-rama without buying something!
