What to do and see in La Palma, Canary Islands: The Best Beaches

July 6, 2021 Brain Ambrose

La Palma is a pristine paradise, set against a backdrop of volcanic landscape. Perhaps the best way to experience La Palma’s rugged beauty is a hike through the Caldera de Taburiente National Park or the narrow gorges of Los Tilos. The cool waters of natural swimming hole Charco Azul beckon on a steamy day. The dark sands of Playa Nueva are great for sunbathing and cat naps.

Playa Nogales

It is not an easy walk to get to this beach and I would not recommend it to anyone with limited mobility. However, the way to the beach is absolutely amazing The cliff path is out of this world !!!! The beach itself is not the best for swimming as the currents are very strong so don't go out of your depth.

Playa De Los Cancajos

We stayed at the H10 Taburiente Playa which is situated in this area. There are a few black volcanic beaches here where you can hire sunbeds and umbrellas for the day( sunbed 3 euros, umbrella 2 euros) We went for early morning walks and the views of the rock formations, beaches and sea were breath-taking. There's also a few bars, restaurants and shops nearby which was handy. Would visit again.
