It's a lake. Wonderful surroundings to the Lygnern. You can see Lygnern by boat also, Isa af Lygnern. When you're there, you have to go to Fjärås Bräcka where you can see both the lake and the sea.

Tjoloholms Castle

We walked around the estate and garden before doing the house tour at 2pm. At the moment the guided tour is in Swedish only but they run one in English later in the summer. We were given an info sheet and the guide also gave us additional info as we went round. It's a super house with lots of arts and crafts furnishings. At the moment they have lots of costumes from the Downton Abbey program in some of the rooms.

Sea Kayak Billdal

Reviewed By Mats007 - Stockholm, Sweden

One big thing about Gothenburg is the archipelago. Sea Kayak Billdal is located in one of the most accessible part of the archipelago. It is very easy to go to because it is close to town. It takes about 30 minutes from the city by bus (ask the Hotel for help or visit www,vastrafik.se). The name of the busstop is "Billdals gård".
We have participated in two courses and rented for our self also. We usually bring coffe and some snacks. Paddle for and hour or so, stop on a nice island. Take a coffee break and a swim in the ocean and rest in the sun. Then we paddle for another hour or so and stop on another island and just enjoy the scenery.
So you can rent a kayak and go by yourself or with friends, or you can hire Mikael as a guide. I would recommend to go with Mikael since he both can show you the beautiful surroundings and also teach you how to paddle. You can be a first timer or experienced. Mikael will adjust to your skills. He is a great teacher and English is no problem.
When it comes to what clothes to wear, ask Mikael. It depends on the weather and he also have some different options. But do not let that stop you.
Do not miss this because you will get good memories from Gothenburg and Sweden.

We visited Naturum because they advertised Childrens activities. We were not disappointed and also discovered they not only have some very interesting exhibits, they also have good coffee and some very nice cakes and light lunches. From the main building there are several nature walk trails to follow, well signposted.

In fact, this is now the larges paintball place in Sweden.
No matter if you want to run around in the woods or in a wild west setting.

Have been to this place quite a few times now as we take all our visitor there. It is always interesting to walk around. Although I do understand they have to charge and entrance fee it seems a shame to ask it if you just want to use the coffee shop. It is nice to see the way they used to live in the old days.

Hede Fashion Outlet

Just 25 minutes from Gothenburg, Hede Fashion Outlet (formerly Freeport) brings together more than 150 of the biggest Scandinavian and International fashion and lifestyle brands in one convenient location. Browse among a unique collection of high-end shops and boutiques, with a broad selection of your favorite clothes, furnishing, and accessories. And all at outlet prices, saving you up to 70% off normal retail prices!

Reviewed By Maximilian H - Gothenburg, Sweden

I had been to the Hede Fashion Outlet 2 times last year October & December.
Visited shops for clothes, Panduro (shop for paper, glue etc...They had really chip stuff to prepare the apartment for Christmas) and 2 decoration shops for candles etc.
One of them was also quite cheap.
But all in all I would say it's a bit limited here. Or it feels like it at least. Due to the circular shape you cannot miss any shop but that makes everything also a bit trite. If you don't take care you find yourself within 3-4 minutes where you started.

The forest is one of the few areas along the Swedish west coast with a long forest continuity and has been classified as national interest for nature conservation. Among many things there is said to be a pine tree with 480 rings which would be Halland oldest known pine.
I love to take my grandchildren there and today we found our first spring sign: a blue Hepatica. It takes on hour hike around the area and it is always and adventure for kids to walk the walk. Go and look for yourself if you dare !
