Sur la route entre Kpalimé et Lomé, se trouve la cascade de Kpimé, à 15km de Kpalimé. La cascade est annoncée de la route, on l'a voit d'ailleurs très bien.

Mt. Agou is quite small (under 1000m in elevation) but is Togo's tallest mountain by a few meters. The mountain is quite accessible off the main highway from Lomé to Kpalimé, about 15 minutes before hitting the town of Kpalimé on the right side. You have to pay at the entrance to get permission to summit either by car or by foot and at the top there will be guards who will give you a small tour and show you the remnants of the French and German armies that used to be in control. If you go in the dry season everything will be hazy from so high up, but if the day is clear you can see over the Ghanaian border from the summit. The trail through the woods is pretty well defined (though without markers of any kind) and passes through two mountain villages. If you're not sure the best way to keep going up just ask any of the people there and they can point you the way to the summit. This hike takes about 3 hours to ascend; from there you can call a taxi to come pick you up or hike down on your own. Make sure to bring plenty of food and water with you from town!

La foresta di Missahohe si trova nei pressi di Kpalime. Per arrivarci bisogna percorrere una strada asfaltata che man mano che si sale diventa sempre più stretta. Una volta arrivati in cima ci attendeva una guida per l'escursione, il signor Prosper, un personaggio caratteristico, un artista che il giorno successivo ci ha mostrato il suo atelier. Essendo Prosper un pittore chilometro zero, che utilizza solo colori naturali per i suoi quadri, nel corso della passeggiata all'interno della foresta ci ha tenuto una vera e propria lezione di botanica, illustrando non soltanto le caratteristiche coloranti delle piante, ma anche gli aspetti terapeutici di alcune di esse. Ogni tanto catturava con un retino qualche farfalla che ci mostrava e rimetteva immediatamente in libertà. Semplicemente incantevole la passeggiata. Nessun turista, solo qualche abitante del luogo. Avevamo solo tre ore a disposizione per la passeggiata ma vale la pena trattenersi di più, anche perché la temperatura è gradevole.

This has been one of my best adventures in Africa so far. Travelling to a remote area near the border with Ghana, difficult hiking and enjoying this amazing waterfall. I took a motorcycle taxi , His name is Oscar and he took care of me for the next two days as his younger brother, so please call him to 99826921 once you arrive to Kpalime. Please start this hike as early as possible, it is a difficult one and it is very hotel and humid , take from Kpalime (!) a lot of water! You pay 2000CFA for entrance and the hike takes about 2 h to get there, but the view of the gorge and the waterfall leaves you speechless. By moto it is about 1.5h to Yikpa (pronounced Yipa), aa place that even in Google map does not exist, but for sure in my memories.

Within this boutique you can find almost anything that can be made of colourful Togolese batik fabrics. It's all handmade and if you're lucky you might even get to watch the production process. Be sure to stop by!

We had an interesting experience visiting this spot. The spot itself is gorgeous and a great place to relax and cool down underneath the waterfall. However, to get there is a different story. We were with 4 persons and a taxi from Kpalimé should get you there for 3500 CFA (all the way to the start of the trail of the Cascade). Before you get into the village of Kpalimé, you cross a Gendarmerie post that claims to be collecting taxes for the Prefecture. To go back and forth, we had to pay 5500 CFA to this bunch of frauds who are obviously taking advantage of ignorant foreigners. Additionally, you need to pay 1000 CFA each to see the Cascade, but don't expext the office that collects the money to explain you how you get there. Of course, first they want to see more money. From the office to the Cascade you need to cross the village, take a right after passing the church and follow the way up for about 3km before you arrive at a crossroad. Take a left here and after 200m you arrive at the picknick area at where also cars and taxi-motos can park. From here it is a 10 minute steep descent to the Cascade.
