Winery Rizman

The Rizman winery once again started its production in 2006, skipping an entire generation of the Štimac family. A new vineyard was planted in new locations, the necessary infrastructure was built and a completely new winegrowing region was created in Croatia. The Štimac family is the first investor and ideological initiator of the new winegrowing region, which includes more than 80 hectares of vine plants in 2012. After planting the vine plants and constructing the infrastructure, which includes a private water spring, a winery with modern equipment was also built in the vineyard. It bears the name Rizman in memory of the first winemaker in the Štimac family. All our future agricultural products will also be presented with that name and logo. The best known member of the Štimac family is Igor, a former member of the Croatian national football team, who won third place in the World Championship in France in 1998 together with the rest of the Croatian team.

This place is great. It has a selection of fantastic wines they produce which you can taste upon request. It's run by a couple of knowledgeable, friendly, and beautiful women. The unique part is the place is maritime themed. They produce a couple of wines which are stored and aged under the sea for up to two years - an interesting process that is fun to learn about. You can purchase bottles that have been through the aging process and have the marine life remnants (like shells) attached to the bottle now. Not only is the wine great to drink, but you can display the bottle well after consumption and have an everlasting conversation piece.

We came to Ston and Mali Ston before heading to Dubrovnik. The walls and the views exceeded expectations. The size and length of the walls made this side trip well worthwhile. The views on this sunny October day were most impressive. Lunch in a local restaurant rounded out the experience.

Located about an hours drive from Dubrovnik are Ston and Mali Ston, famed for salt pans and oysters.
The city walls are well worth a climb with beautiful views from the top!
The climb itself is challenging though there is more than one path you can take. Comfortable/ sturdy footwear recommended, the entrance fee was 50 kuna and you are able to park for 5 kuna/ hour in either location.
Well worth a visit!

I loved coming here, it is a beautiful winery. Definitely a must see when visiting Janjina. The sour cherry liqueur and mirta liqueur were my favorites, I would definitely recommend it! Also, the girl working there was very nice, talking to her was such a pleasure, and she was the prettiest girl I had see during my visit in Croatia.

We just showed up at this vineyard without booking and were welcomed extremely warmed by Ivan.
We were shown around the fermentation tanks and cellar where Ivan explained the wine making process. He detailed that the place had been in his family’s ownership for 500+ years and his warmth and knowledge were infectious.
We then tasted about 4-5 wines and paid a little extra to try and vintage wines. The wines were gorgeous and Ivan talked us through each one.
We tried some olive oil which was really nice and had a peppery aftertaste.
You could buy wines and even have them shipped to the UK for a nominal fee.
Overall excellent value and a really enjoyable visit. Thanks Ivan!
