Whatever the weather, a bit of community history can be found at Waterloo Region Museum. Indoor exhibits complement a fair weather outdoor walk through a real pioneer village highlighting Waterloo County life in 1912.

Victoria Park

Whether you are with family, friends or alone, Victoria Park is a great place for a stroll. There are lots of events there during the summer on weekends. Great water pad for the kids, ducks and geese to feed or just watch them swim gracefully in the water. There is parking around but gets crowded during events. Serine place to spend some time.

Huron Natural Area

Reviewed By CdnGoldy - Kitchener, Canada

Spending time here is always a gift. Today was a cold day with a bright sun and no wind. It was perfect for a walk in the forest. The sounds of nature here greet you peacefully, even though you are in the city. There is a beautiful lake, and also meadows. A new trail is currently being added and will be open in the new year. The trail I took wandered through the forest, past the lake, beyond a marsh and back to a playground, interpretive area, washrooms and the parking lot.

I love this place. It's a great, local story of some gutsy entreprenuers who wanted to offer Waterloo Region something different. They serve up great beer and snacks with ever-changing entertainment offerings, ranging from trivia nights, live music and even family-friendly fun.

Schneider Haus National Historic Site

A local landmark and Kitchener's oldest dwelling, the 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is a fine Georgian-frame farmhouse that was built by and was home to the area's earliest non-Aboriginal settlers, Joseph and wife Barbara Schneider, Pennsylvania-German Mennonites. Today, history comes to life as staff demonstrate traditional tasks in concert with the seasons. The modern interpretation wing hosts gallery exhibits, workshops and lectures. Come for a visit and enjoy hands-on activities, special events, and more!

The toboggan hill at McLennan Park is wonderfully built and maintained. The park itself is thoughtfully designed and was a much needed place for the local kids to play. There is fences installed for safety and the hull is groomed for ideal sledding pleasure for young and old. Also a plus, it's right beside a Tim Hortons for after sledding hot chocolate and donuts. I try to take my family at least once every winter, weather permitting.

Love this place! This gives downtown Kitchener a friendly vibe. It's a great gathering point, people watching spot and tourist attraction. We've been here for many cultural festivals, starts of marches etc... The skating rink in the wintertime is great, but my favourite time is when they get out the Muskoka chairs during the day in the summer. I will return.

Bingemans Big Splash

Reviewed By maharincess - Elora, Canada

I used to come here as a child and it was flawless. Today. The park is incredibly run down. The wave pool has chipped tiles all over and what looks like corrosion. Just looks rundown and a little dirty.
It was also very expensive. 2 adults and one child over 95 dollars. My husband went knowing he didn't want to swim, but figured he'd enjoy a game of mini golf with us. When we got down to the courses, we were told due to "high volume" there were only small and extra small clubs available. Also they were out of score cards. There were max 20 people golfing at this time and didn't look busy at all. The course our daughter played was also very rundown. The Astro turf is bare in many spots and the whole course is clearly in need of some tlc to make it enjoyable. A very disappointing visit and we won't be back.
