Cittadella Visitors' Centre

Entrance to the Cittadella Visitors' Centre is €5 and is accessible via Castle Hill by making a sharp right and down a set of stairs or via the lift. The Visitors’ centre is located within the Cittadella’s old water Reservoir, it reinforces the historical ties that link it with Rabat and the natural landscape bringing the story of the Cittadella to life Using touchscreens, visitors can access the information in 8 languages, Maltese, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Chinese. The island of Gozo is rich in history and natural beauty, resources which, woven in with local customs and traditions, were key factors in creating this new tourist attraction. Being greener, less densely populated and urbanised than Malta, Gozo boasts an idyllic lifestyle that draws inspiration from its unique island setting The visitor experience culminates in a dramatic 360° Cittadella Show, set within an impressive theatrical space created by the high arches of the former water Reservoir.

The Citadella visitor centre with its exhibition depicting the history is worth visiting. It is a small exhibition and free to browse. There is a very well done Audio Visual show which is included in a ticket which features 3 or 4 places of interest within The Citadel. It is a very new centre and worth visiting before entering the main Citadel area.

Had an awesome holiday. We dived wrecks, caves and reefs. The instructors/guides were brilliant, particularly Richard Salter and Alan O Reilly. They explained the history of the site and what marine life we would see. Very helpful and professional. The contact between Diane and our dive centre was brilliant and efficient. Would definitely recommend gozo and St. Andrews divers cove to other divers and centres back home.

Ta’ Mena Estate is the first agri-tourism complex in the Maltese Islands. This estate offers an experience with a difference where our guests will be in touch with nature and tradition, enjoying typical foods, wines and liqueurs with a touch of the Mediterranean Sunshine. At Ta’ Mena we produce typical Gozitan products, making use of traditional recipes which were passed over to us by our forefathers. These include the very popular Sun- dried Sweet Tomato Paste (Kunserva Helwa), Pickled Onions, Olives in Oil, Wild Capers in Vinegar, Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil, various liqueurs and dessert wines and Gozo Peppered Cheese-lets amongst others. We at Ta’ Mena Estate grow our own grapes to produce great wines with a particular Gozitan character. We are proud that ten of our blends have been certified as GOZO D.O.K. Wines (Certified Denomination of Origin) which is the highest wine certification for Maltese wines. We also have two I.G.T. wines which certify that they have been produced from Gozo grown grapes. Therefore when you are visiting Gozo come and visit us at Ta’ Mena Estate for free wine and food tastings. Tal-Massar Winery

Customers are kindly requested to book us at least a day before so that we can give them all our attention. If however, they are short on time, they can still contact us and we will do our best to accommodate them the best way we can. All wine tasting sessions are conducted in the afternoon. During winter and mid season tours are conducted at 3.15Pm and when the hot season starts vineyard tours are done at a later time. It is our policy that when the weather permits all wine tasting sessions are conducted at the vineyards at Gharb. Further details will be provided once booking is confirmed.

Really enjoyed our visit to Tal-Massar. The place is situated in a quite picturesque area in the Gozitan countryside. The winery and it's owners are very genuine, knowledgeable and kind! The tour consisted of a tour of the vineyards, followed by tasting of their 4 wines with nibbles to compliment the wines. The wines are of very high quality and reasonably priced for the quality, a reflection of the great knowledge and dedication that the owners have.
All 4 of us loved the visit and would love to do it again in the near future. Highly recommended!!
Being Maltese, I really do wish this winery the very best and I'm happy that their great work is finally being recognised and will soon be more widely distributed across the island!

Wied il-Ghasri

Reviewed By profjoypc - Alnwick, United Kingdom

A road from the main square in the village of Ghasri leads to this incredibly beautiful valley called Weid il Ghasri. As you progress along it you pass some wonderul traditional farmhouses and come to beautiful small chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The valley ends at the sea and the final stages of it are a narrow pathway wedged between steep cliffs that leads to a pebbly beach and place for swimming in the inlet. The valley is a superb place for walking, especially in the spring and early autumn. The whole has a feel of unspolit tranquility.
