Very good place. A must go place if one want long stretch of beach for driving with cool air flowing all time of the day from the sea. Other than the driving the beach also poses scenic spots and it's a paradise for photographers. One can also just enjoy the white sand, cool breeze blowing on their faces, birds flying on the shore. We enjoyed with too much photography.

The best part - we were the only ones at the beach! It was the offseason, which also meant that it was impractical getting into the water. The waves were quite high. But we had a good time walking around, dipping our toes, and seeing how backwaters begin.

Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple

Parassinikadavu Muthappan Madappura is a Hindu temple, located on the banks of the Valapattanam river about 16 km from Kannur. Unlike other temples, the devotees can 'interact' with the God as they pour out their grievances in a free-wheeling 'chat' with the tastefully decorated "Muthappan Theyyam," an artist who assumes 'divinity' by representing the God.

The temple here is famous for the humbleness and offering its filled with devotees throughout the year and the devotees coming here are not only offered a free meal but also tea and prasadam of offered right from morning to evening, now aq days there is also a boat ride offered by some private parties where by you could a full view of the temple from the river.

Rajarajeshwara Temple

We reached the temple at 12.50 pm but later we came to know that this temple has limited timings to visit, we returned back disappointingly( temple closes at 12 pm and opens at 5 pm). Since the temple was closed during our first visit, I visited again after a week at 7 pm. The temple was serene and divine, had darshan.. I was surprised to know that women are allowed to enter temple only after 7PM after performing certain rituals... And there is a strict dress code for all.. Men should wear only dhotis to enter the temple..

A hill station that is easily accessible by vehicles. You can take your car till the top if it has sufficient clearance else you can hire a jeep for just 250 Rs one way. Best time is evenings after 4. The place is open till 8 pm. It is better to avoid the sunny hours 10-2. Many activities are coming up like zip lining, rope walkway, etc.

Maintenance is a hit or miss! Parking fee on the higher side! Entrance fee- seems fine.

Dharmadam Beach

Reviewed By govindan456 - Ernakulam, India

Dharmadam, a beautiful island blessed with a foreign ambiance, can be tipped as Kerala Mauritius. It's an untapped tourist destination in Kannur district. You can experience the wonders of nature during the visit. The island is surrounded by the Anjarakandy river on three sides and by the Arabian sea on the fourth side. You can cross the river (there will be no water in middle portion) during low tide. Be careful while crossing the river as there are many small rocks. Visit during afternoon ideally by 2 pm and return by 3:30 pm, otherwise tide level may increase. Basic infrastructure facilities (food to refreshment rooms) are less here.
