Climbodia

I have been climbing over 20 years (sports, multi-pitch, trad and alpine climbing) and worked in several climbing gyms all over the world. Teaching school groups was an important factor. I’ve worked in construction in heights for 4 years and have been setting up climbing routes for as many years. After graduating Journalism, I lived 5 years in Nepal and have been living in Cambodia over 10 years.

Not having time to visit a Pepper Farm, I dropped into Farm Link in Kampot with my daughter. We were pleasantly surprised by the free, informative tour and answers to our questions. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the pepper, salt and palm sugar tastings. There were enough plants outside in the garden to see the difference between different pepper plants as well as see peppers drying and being sorted for quality. Very affordable products available in the shop given the amount of labor involved in production.

La Plantation

La Plantation is a social and sustainable family project, the perfect combination of traditional farming and modern processing. At La Plantation, we produce Black, Red, White Kampot pepper and the exclusive Fresh Salted Kampot Pepper, Red Long Pepper, Turmeric, Bird Chili and local fruits. Grown traditionally and harvested by hand, our spices are processed with high standards in quality and hygiene and are certified organic by Ecocert. Presentation, tasting and free guided tour in English, French, and Khmer. You will understand why Kampot Pepper has been elected #1 best pepper in the world. La Plantation has also a social dimension by improving the living conditions of many people in this rural area and by taking care of the primary school. You can enjoy our spices in our two restaurants (Khmer and French), or join a Khmer cooking class. You can also experience a tour in the rural countryside up to Secret Lake in a cart pulled by water buffaloes.

We loved our visit to La Plantation, awesome free tour and sampling of the different types of pepper which is unusual as most of the operations in this country are designed to grab as much money from tourists as possible. Great commitment to the local community. This was definitely a highlight of our trip in Cambodia. We would also recommend hiring a tuk tuk for the day so you can see some other things on the way out there.

We had a blast here - we originally with to Duang Te at the recommendation of my GF's sister, however, we immediately left in favor of Arcadia. Really a little treasure they've carved out of the the jungle. The Blob is a blast, I launched my 12 year old nephew into lower Earth orbit. The waterslide is the real deal and a lot of fun. Just keep you mouth closed as to not crack a tooth and while a lot of kids do it, I wouldn't recommend head first. My own stupidity really, I'm no spring chicken these days and bruised a rib. That didn't stop me from doing it over and over again, just feet first worked better for me, hahaha! The Russian Swing looked fun but I personally didn't try it. Cold cheap'ish beer, reasonable entry fee, great service, lots of smiling faces and tasty food. They also provide free inner tubes and had a couple diving platforms anchored offshore - really just a great, fun day on the river surrounded by fun people. Would definitely go back! Can't wait until we do, actually ;) Thanks Arcadia!
