We drove out to this small village and met the owners and had a wonderful 2 hours drinking tea, talking about village life and finally ordering a durry!. We received photos of our durry on the loom and it was professionally mailed to us in Delhi and now it is in our dining room. What a cool experience to have a hand made rug with this kind of back story!! Do yourself a favor and make the drive!!

We had a wonderful afternoon cooking with Rekha in her home. She taught us the basics of cooking with Indian spice and herbs and we learnt about the types of Ayurvedic cooking and the preferred style of Sattvic cooking. We found this to be eye opening and it will surely benefit us ordering meals at restaurants in the future and making our own food. In the class we prepared and enjoyed enjoyed Chai, aloo Gobi and paneer curries, briyani and raita that we prepared with fresh ingredients. The food was some of the best we have had on our entire trip. We finished off with a delicious saffron lassi! Highly recommend this experience.

Mohanlal Verhomal Spices (MV SPICES)

Mohanlal Verhomal was the legend of spices in JOdhpur city of Rajasthan. He was the pioneer of the spices. He was the first person to introduce and sell spices to the tourists coming from all over the world. His aim was to provide the best quality and best blends of spices to the foreign tourists. He made JOdhpur city (dry) popular for the spices with his mixing s and best quality spices and service. MV Spices is the old and original spices-seller of the city with great quality and service to the tourist. He and his spices are recommended by all the travel guide books.Unfortunately, Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal expired in 2004, leaving behind his family of seven daughters and his wife. Since they are women, but still they took step against the soceity to continue with the business in this men-dominating society of India. After his death, there are lots of duplicate shops around the market, they all have similar name, as they have-MV SPICES.All the other spices shops start their name with "M"-to confuse tourists. When you will visit the store you will find one of the daughter of Mr.Mohanlal Verhomal to explain you about the spices, teas and saffron. Meanwhile you can have a cup chai with them.More details you will find when you will visit the store.
