What to do and see in Jersey Shore, Jersey Shore: The Best Self-Guided Tours & Rentals

January 1, 2022 Hana Mouser

The Atlantic coast of New Jersey, with its beaches and boardwalks, stretches from Sandy Hook in the north to Cape May in the south. Fresh ocean breezes fan 127 miles of sandy beaches. Drive between cities or catch a NJ Transit bus or Atlantic City jitney bus. Atlantic City packs people in to nightlife venues and casinos. Wildwood's boardwalk is well-trod. Asbury Park is once again popular, particularly with gays and lesbians. Cape May's restaurants and Victorian inns lure tourists to the historic town.

I am stating this review for the "Atlantic City Bar Crawl" not scavenger hunt. This idea is great. However, the app and connecting people in your group is an absolute nightmare. This was by far the WORST in terms of "user friendliness". I am not new to apps and devices, but I spent over an hour or more trying to get our friends hooked up with the app and assigned the tickets that I pre-purchased. I felt bad for my wife's group as they were all there for her birthday. I promoted this idea and as they sat patiently waiting for me to "figure this out", I only grew more and more agitated. I had found a "help section" in the app and sent an instant message for someone to guide me through, but of course no one responded. Very disappointed in the whole experience and that it cost me $40+ dollars for nothing.

We enjoy kayaking and looked forward to the trip. The shop is very small and you go through it to show your tickets, then go out onto the dock for vests, paddles and kayak. It was low-key with lots of info on the flora and fauna of the sea marsh. A bit slow for my liking and with a large group (about 10-12) with varying experiences, and the guide was soft spoken, we took off, ahead of everyone else once we could only go in one direction. After a while, scenery looks the same.
