What to do and see in Javea, Valencian Country: The Best Things to do Good for Big Groups

December 7, 2021 Venice Greaves

The coastal jewel of Javea is bookended by rocky headlands and is a prime example of old world meets modern energy. The "old town" district is filled with remains of walls built to keep out pirates, as well as a 14th-century church. Visit the beautiful white-sand Arenal beach, brimming with shops, restaurants and, in the summer, hopping beachside bars and nightclubs.

Project X Escape Rooms

Javea's original Escape room experience enters 2019 with a brand new room, the "Radioactive refuge". All new, practical puzzles and an elevated level of difficulty, definitely one for the experts and those really wanting their brains taxed! "Murder on Montgo" is our other room. As a team of forensic investigators trapped at a crime scene, you are forced to take part in a deadly game with a notorious serial killer... Teams of 2-6 players, Over 16's only (minors must be accompanied by an adult). Can you escape the rooms? Come along and find out why we're #1 for "fun and games" in Javea!

We visited Project X Escape Rooms on 13th Jun 2019 and really enjoyed our experience. We were 2 families, with 4 adults and 6 kids ranging in ages from 9 to 16. We split into 2 groups one of 6 completing the 'Radioactive Refuge' and 4 in the 'Murder on Montgo'. The younger kids took on the 'Murder' challenge with 2 adults and managed to escape with seconds to go. Unfortunately we did not manage to beat the Radioactive Refuge challenge.... All 10 of us really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it for families looking to do something different for an hour... Jamie (the owner) looked after us really well and an added bonus was getting to meet 'Summer' (will leave that as a surprise for you...)

Playa del Arenal

A sandy beach in great location with plenty of restaurants and bars along the promenade for snacks, lunch, dinner etc. Lots of parking nearby for rental cars including our preferred underground car park (keeping the car out of the sun) which was only €3 for the day. Sun loungers on the beach were €7 each plus €7 for an umbrella in August 2019. There were pedalos and kayaks available to rent, but we didn't try these.

It’s a real hike there and back and at times tricky. Over an hour each way. Wear trainers or walking boots and pack enough food and water because you are going to need it! Once you get there it’s worth it. Absolutely beautiful and you won’t want to leave. Take sea shoes you have them. Enjoy!
