What to do and see in Italian Riviera, Liguria: The Best Piers & Boardwalks

December 7, 2021 Alice Mieles

Liguria, or the Italian Riviera, boasts a bounty of beaches and resort towns, such as tiny but tony Portofino and stylish Rapallo. Hiking trails lead from Portofino to the villages of Cinque Terre. The Riviera of the Setting Sun runs north from Genoa to the French border. Connected by an extensive rail network, most towns make easy daytrips from one another. Genoa is the region's principal city and is home to attractions from its famous Cathedral and the Palazzo Reale to an excellent aquarium.

Porto di Vernazza

Reviewed By AlbertSalichs - Manresa, Spain

Porto di Vernazza is the old harbour of the tiny town called Vernazza in Cinque Terre National Park, in La Spezia Region, in the North of Italy. It is the most beautiful place in the town, where you can see wonderful views of the town, the sea and the coast. Really, the little harbour is charming, and. you can arrive here from the station walking in the main street. (See also Vernazza and Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre)

A huge harbour full of excellent and enjoyable things to see and do. The harbour is bigger than i thought. It has an aquarium, a maritime museum, it a port full of cruise ships and super yachts. It also has some nice restaurants. I went to a very nice burger restaurant over on the far east side.

Corso dell'Imperatrice

Reviewed By 859michaels859 - Nice, France

San Remo is a great place to visit and to fall in love with ! What we like the most is to visit the market on Saturday and Tuesday, enjoy first a great Italian coffee, have lunch at the many nice Italian restaurants ( we prefer La Vita e bella or Mare Blu ), go for a bicycle ride along the Mediterranean, and end the day with an Aperol Spritz and complimentary appetizers. The beach is best at Oasis, they serve good food & drinks as well and the chaise lounges & umbrellas are reasonably priced. Go there ! Don’t forget to visit the Casino and Via Matteotti, the pedestrian shopping street !
