Discovery Wildlife Park

Discovery Wildlife Park provides "forever" homes for orphaned wildlife and displace exotic animals. Daily animal presentations are included with your admission and provide an up close educational experience for all ages. Bears, tigers, jaguars, lions and wolves all take part in these presentations to educate our visitors on conservation issues and the importance of respect for all wildlife. We have a full concession plus an amazing gift shop for your shopping pleasure! Electric golf carts are available to rent if you have a family member with mobility challenges. New this year is our 65 site campground equipped with 30 and 50 amp power, washrooms, showers and located right in the Park! Listen to the animals at night, book an evening animal encounter for the whole family, fish in our stocked trout pond - there are lots of reasons to spend a night or two at the Park! Parking is free and there is plenty of room for big RVs and buses. The park is 90 acres and there is about a mile of walking, there are tables and benches throughout the park for your family picnic (yes, you may also bring your own lunch!) and we offer photo opportunities with our awesome bears and our TV star beaver.

The animals seemed to like people - the camels and ostriches walked right up to us to say hello, and one of the lions sat on his table to pose for a perfect picture :) We came in time to watch the bear show, where...MoreThank you for your review of our Park! We are glad that you enjoyed it and, yes, our animals do really enjoy the attention of our visitors! We appreciate your support and look forward to hosting your family again in the near future!

Innisfail Historical Village

Reviewed By SisiAb - AB

We decided to get the best out of our summer and visited the place just outside of Calgary, Historical Village of Innisfail. On the first thought when I researched it, I was a bit skeptical, however, we wanted to see it for ourselves before making a judgment call. We are glad we took the chance to see it. We were not disappointed. It was easy to find, thanks to the staff from Discovery Wildlife Park (DWP), which we visited prior to coming here. Map of Innisfail, we received at DWP highlighted way to get to the Historical Village, what else we can ask for. We parked the car by the road and walk to the entrance. Greeted upon entry, 5 CAD entrance fee - that is really exceptionally decent, made our day. Area of Historical village is more compact than I thought it would be, so there is no need to worry that you will be walking a lot. Additionally, we went there on a hot sunny day and each of the showcase houses offered us a refuge from the heat to cool off. In the return we got unbelievable feeling from the past. It was more like we became a part of how the people used to live in the past … My mom, who visited from Europe was impressed too, and when she have seen the old school, she had so much to tell to our daughter (her granddaughter) that we were also astound. Personally myself, I have seen there a lot of things that I was familiar with from my childhood, however it was back in the time when my grandparents were around. Seeing it there it was more like my grandparents were brought back to me through beautiful memories. I would say that this place is must to see for every generation and won’t be surprised if you buy an ice-cream, that they might ask you for fraction of price what you will pay in Calgary.
Lastly there is no restaurant, however we were referred to Red Ox where we went for dinner and were treated to huge portions that we did not have to cook on Sunday. Overall we had a great time and that what really counts at the end of the day.

Innisfail Golf Club

Divots is located at the Innisfail Golf Course.
Their restaurant, which does look more like a cafeteria than a high end golf club restaurant, has AMAZING food.  I have been there twice now for work related functions and everything has been delicious!  No complaints from the many in our groups.
On my first trip I tried May's special chicken wings - Peanut Butter and Jelly.  Now I know what you are thinking but they were friggin' delicious!  Think peanut satay sauce with a bit of sweet glaze.  So good!!
On my second visit I had the veal cutlet in a red wine gravy.  Well, what else would I have at lunch when I can't have a glass of wine?! It was delicious!!  The sauce was just divine and the veggies and mashed potatoes were so tasty.  The mix of carrots and zucchini were nice and crisp and flavorful.  And this is on their "Lighter Side" menu so I was able to get the smaller portion with just one piece of veal.
And on both visits the service was excellent despite them being very busy with the lunchtime crowd.
Like many other places they have Wine Wednesday.  But get this!  They have bottles for only $15 and glasses for $4!  Friday nights they have a Prime Rib special which is supposed to be very good.  And the drinking water is delicious due to the great water filtration system (thanks to Chris' husband who will never see this but there's the shout out anyways!)
I will be returning often - likely this week for another birthday or going away party!

Sky DIve Big Sky

Great overall experience. They made us feel safe. There were a few sexual remarks thrown at me from the instructors but it wasn't too awkward I guess. Café we tried to order food from never had anyone there so that was annoying but understandable. Airplane was decent and instruction were very thorough which we all appreciated. They were patient with us when we were a bit late so we appreciated that.

My son, his wife, grandson, my life and I travelled to Innisfail to the Dinos Centre to play miniature golf indoors. Beautiful new building inside and out. Lots of fun playing golf and touring the educational section of dinosaurs. There was a kids birthday party starting so we did not stay too long. We had seems everything anyways.
