Farol Beach

I stay the morning period at Praia do Farol, it was great, calm sea perfect for a good swim, specially for kids. But be prepared to take your chairs, beach umbrella, food and beverages. The place does not have infrastructure to provide any of these things.

Ilha do Mel State Park

Filled with beautiful places and nice people. Wonderful to relax and desconect from the world. I stayed at a great pousada called Fim da Trilha (that means "End of the Trail"). I was biking in the state of Paraná so I took my bike and was able to ride along some Beaches. It was great!
Hiking is also a big thing on the island because there are no streets and cars are not allowed. So you take a trail wherever you go. Pretty cool now a days!
But the trails are well kept and easy to follow, the pousadas nice, food good and the views absolutely amazing. I would go back a thousand times.

Esse Balneário é o ponto de chegada ao litoral. Principalmente de quem vem de Paranaguá. Um dos melhores balneários da região e oferece as maiores opções de comércio da área. Não tenho certeza mas parece que a rodoviária é nessa localidade.

It is well worth the hike up here for the views at the top. The lighthouse is closed to the public, but there are steps to make the path easier.

Fortress of Our Lady of Pleasures

Amazing fortress! I didn't expect it is so big. Keep in mind wearing comfortable shoes to get to the top. You will find more interesting strengthening and guns from 1910 year. You will see gorgeous gulf and the ocean. Also there is an informative book shop with history maps and friendly researcher, which will provide any clarifications you need.
One thing i wish to the fortress responsible department - save the historic heritage from destruction!

Guaraquecaba Environmental Protection Area

Reviewed By ValeriaBarreira - Brazil

Guaraqueçaba is a small town on the coast of the state of Parana, Brazil. It's at the heart of an Environmental protection area.
Pros:
Wildlife at its best, untouched rain Forests, trails through forest. Rivers and streams flow with sparkling clean and sweet water. It feels like paradise when flocks of birds sing as you stroll along your trail. Wildlife everywhere. We got to see jaguar and wild boar paw prints – no luck with face-to-face encounters - and dozens of birds. Make sure you visit the Salto Morato reserve and the Sebui reserve.
Cons:
It's a 3 hour, (average 40 km an hour) ride along a dust road to get there. Potholes all the way. You may get a ferry instead but it only rides twice a day. The city of Guaraquecaba is quite poor, not benefiting from ecotourism at all. There are few accommodation options and guides for the reserves are arranged on the spot, depending on demand, weather and sea conditions. Everything is very informal there, so take your time. For dinner, there are only 2 restaurants with simple dishes.
Reminders:
Take hard cash. Very few places accept cards. Take mosquito repellent, sunscreen and plenty of snacks for your hikes. You can safely drink water from the rivers. Do not rush. Few people speak foreign languages, so either take a phrase book or translation software. Be aware that there’s no internet service in most areas.
Tip: Don't miss the bar called Mercearia Rodrigues. Amazing place, great service, wonderful yummy food.

Grande Beach

Reviewed By Beverley_11 - Nottingham, United Kingdom

This is a vast beach with fine sand and few people. It is part of the main hiking route around the island. On our second visit we had chosen to walk on the trail behind the beach through the forest and according to the map we should have been able to get to the Miguel beach without negotiating the rocks. The path despite our best efforts brought us back to Grande beach, so we started to negotiate the rocks, but the tide was too high. We did find a route through the forest from the rocks back to the Miguel beach, but until we came out the other end, we were not sure it was going to end well.
