This is my childhood island and despite it being more touristy now rather than a fishing port, there is still plenty of the old charm left to satisfy anyone who loves island life. The coastline is simply superb and great to see on a bike as well as providing some wonderful walks. The old castle is a must to visit.

Port de la Meule

Arriving by cycle down the hill, we first of all stopped for some lunch then had a walk along the cliff path.
The views along the estuary are lovely, with lots of small boats moored. The footpath goes right around the peninsula but we did not walk that far.

We stopped by with our boat in the bay overlooking the castle. Old, medieval, reminder of Tintin so quite fun. Beautiful, I recommend to go and visit it clearly.

When you sail in and stay the Port of Plaisance you get a different perspective. The port is a busy place and commercially all goods arrive here, but it's great for strolling, watch the fish boats unload, and enjoy the cafes on the wharf.

Reviewed By Stephanie D - Paris, France

A summer holiday in Île D'yeu is perfect. I visited this port nearly every day as it was very close to the beach of Des vieilles. This nice port is not crowded and has a place where you can jump off rocks into the sea below! It's very close to a sea Kayaking area and is not totally congested with people. Always full of life and never far away from fun this place is perfect!

A l'intérieur, sentiment d'unité. Beaux vitraux. Magnifique chemin de croix. A voir avant de quitter l'île.
