These bikes are brilliant. Simply brilliant. And so is the service and help in finding routes to take. On top of that you get all the accoutrements - very good saddle bags, high viz, poncho and a helmet too (we didn't take the helmet!)
Whether you like to go really fast, or just like to enjoy the countryside, you'll like these! They work beautifully. The electric packs are like little magical boosts of power when you are tired, or you are wanting to overtake someone on a hill, or there is a headwind, or you just want to go really really fast!! The rest of the bikes is pretty good too. There are more than 3 gears (3 is the norm for dutch bikes - their riders all have massive thighs!), which all changed smoothly and when you want them too. They have handlebar brakes instead of pedal brakes, another plus if you are not used to the backpedal stop that a lot of Dutch bikes have.
I was hesitant at first, the price being double what it is for hiring a regular bike. My boyfriend and I are both fairly fit and gluttons for the physical punishment of long distance cycling/ runnning. Did we really need that electric pack? YES! Those bikes were the best part of our little Dutch adventure!
Get your own map though. The ones provided are limited to the Ijmuiden area.

We sailed from Ijmuiden to Newcastle (tuesday) and back to Ijmuiden (friday). We were lucky to have 2 smooth sailings. We had an outside cabin, 2 bunk beds. You need to be young and flexible to get into the upper bed I think. Cabin was small, but very clean. On the return trip (deck 4) we found the cabin newer as the first trip (deck 5).
Food was very expensive, so we had dinner before boarding and brakfast after getting off the ship.
On the return trip, there were a lot of UK youngsters, having a "drink till you drop" trip to Amsterdam. However, our cabing was quiet, but you might have noise if these persons are next to your cabin.
Staff was great, they let us board first with our bicycles when it started to rain in Newcastle. Getting to you bicycle to get off the ship is not so easy, as it is packed with truck trailers. Will do this again I think

DFDS Seaways, Felison Terminal

Reviewed By Vikki W - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

I'm sorry to say, I'm giving this a terrible rating.....mainly due to very anti-social passengers who think that it's perfectly acceptable to start partying the deck outside our cabin for almost 2 hours, from 2.15am - 4.30am right underneath the wheelhouse - which makes it much worse as there is no way the Captain or staff in there DIDN'T hear it. So, not content with playing loud music, screaming at each other, they then start knocking on our window and then coming inside and punching the doors - in truth, we were all petrified...trying to console a frightened 8 year old at the time of the morning, is not what I envisioned at all.
When we left in the morning, we noticed that all the doors were dented, so I can only presume we weren't the only ones subjected to this. So glad we paid the extra to have a sea view....never again!!!!!!
Now what's made me give it a terrible rating is the fact that I sent a facebook message on our return, got a reply apologising and saying that customer services would be in contact within 10 working days - that time has passed and we've not received a word. Very, very disappointed and I can honestly say I'd never use them again.

Lopifit, tours with first real e-walking bike!

Reviewed By Urban_Edm

I had saw a video someone had posted of a walking bike and thought it looked like a lot of fun. After some investigating I contacted Evelien who has a LoopFiets shop in the town of Ijmuiden just outside of Amsterdam. She was absolutely fantastic to work with and she organized our booking in advance of our trip to Holland. The LoopFiet is a walking bike and totally different from a regular bike which makes for a unique experience. Evelien's shop is located right next to a national park so plenty of trails to explore, including nearby ocean Beaches, on the walking bike. It was an amazing experience and our four hour rental flew by. Super easy to get to via local transport from Amsterdam and Evelien provided us travel information to make sure we would not get lost. The rental rate was 30 Euros for 4 hours. We picked up food for a picnic and had an amazing time on our treadmill bikes! Totally recommend to anyone who wants to get a little bit off the tourist track while in Amsterdam!

This exhibition is really interestingly put together with a good balance between information and activities. Much of it is dutch but enough in english to keep non-dutch speakers interested. Great view from the cafe on the top floor and the roof, although watch out if you take small children up there as it is not completely guarded. We went back through the favourite bits of the exhibition after a snack and in total we were there between 2 and 3 hours.

IJmuidense Rondvaart Maatschappij - Boat Tours

Reviewed By TdBoer - Groningen, The Netherlands
