An ancient city in the Flemish province of West Flanders, Ieper (as it’s known in the Flemish tongue) has enjoyed financial and cultural status since the 12th century. Today, visitors can check out remnants of its impressive past, including ramparts that date back to 1385 and an historic moat, which now is a haven for wildlife. Ieper found itself in the middle of World War I and suffered tremendous damage to all of its buildings, but has been both reconstructed in its medieval style and built up with modern structures.

Having watched the Menin Gate ceremony my son and I stumbled on this tiny bar. The barman spoke fabulous English, knew all about the beer he sold and welcomed all as old friends. If I lived in Ypres this would be my local. Started with a Times 6.4% and ended with a dark and malty Benadictus 8%.

Visited this place many times never fails as a place to meet people doing the same things as us as in ww1 ect .lager is cheap and they do light snacks ..Natalie is also great and if theres a match on she will find it ..

Cafe Linea is a cosy music bar with lots of ambiance and 80's music at the weekends. Lots of beers and friendly people verry close to the centrum of Ypers. Come and have a great time! ;)
