What to do and see in Honolulu, Hawaii (HI): The Best Nightlife

June 4, 2021 Misti Hsu

The mere mention of Hawaii is enough to prompt visions of grass skirts and colorful cocktails with tiny umbrellas. While you will find some kitsch in Honolulu, you’ll also find art museums, bike paths, and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Popular Waikiki Beach has soft sands and great surf. For majestic Oahu views scramble to the top of Diamond Head – a 350-acre volcanic crater. Historic structures like Iolani Palace and Ali'iolani Hale are worth a visit on a non-beach day.

High & Right Comedy Night

Bo Irvine provides a true Hawaiian comedy experience along with a tribute to military families. We have attended his comedy show everytime we are lucky to travel to Honolulu and the Hale Koa Hotel. His show provides a fun experience at the Warrior's Lounge and is not to be missed. There's nothing like laughing out loud, eating great pupus and drinking a Mai Tai to enhance your vacation!

Mai Tai Bar at Royal Hawaiian Hotel

Reviewed By DonM438 - Chemainus, Canada

This bar fronts onto the beach, we went through the lobby to get there, so I'm not sure if you can enter off the beach. I think Royal Hawaiian and the Moana are each the Queens of Waikiki. Royal Hawaiian has lost its lovely gardens but the hotel is still magical. Great service for our visit, there was a Luau going on at beachside, so the music was lovely as well.

Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar

Reviewed By hapalogue - Pearl City, United States

I loved my night out here! I'm told this is a very well known local spot, and it absolutely shows. There were plenty of singers ready and willing to belt out a range of songs from country to ballads. When I first walked in, one of the bartenders was doing an excellent job of multitasking between pouring drinks and singing a song. The mic was never silent for long. My group ordered some of their buffalo wings, which were quite tasty. My Old Fashioned was well made and served with a single globe of ice. The Pussy Grabs Back beer was crisp, which I enjoyed. Whether you're a singer or simply an admirer, Wang Chung's is deserving of at least one of your evenings in Waikiki.

Salt Honolulu

Reviewed By iamcjjohnsonjr - Los Angeles, United States

This area is hip and contemporary. Surrounded by beautiful art murals, fantastic shops/stores, and high energy. This area is gentrified and quickly becoming a hot spot. Because it is a bit gentrified there are a lot of homeless people scattered throughout the area but they’re mostly harmless. Fun area and a “must see” for a good time and some awesome photogenic scenery.
