Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve

This easy walk along the paved trail turned into an excellent surprise ending! The views from the paved trail are very nice and they are doing a noble job to preserve and improve the area. The best part is the short bonus walk off the pavement. We didn’t find the dirt/rock trail to be difficult to manage at all and worth the little additional effort- the recess cave and waterfall was a big highlight of our visit to the Hocking Hills area Best of all is that it was not nearly as crowded as other spots

Rock House

One-of-a-kind nature experience! The hike in was somewhat short-1/2 to 3/4 mile one-way, but I would say 3/4 of the trail was moderate in difficulty (especially for seniors like us!) but SO worth the effort! The Rock House was amazing! It was a good sized cave with beautifully colored rocks- reds & greens; tons of crevices, holes etc. Bring a flashlight & explore! Enjoy!

Old Man's Cave

Reviewed By MentorGrl - Concord, United States

I first visited here about nine years ago with my college aged daughter. This time, I visited with my husband. This is a truly amazing Ohio attraction. The rock formations, the forest, the trails, the caves, the water falls, they are all just mesmerizing ... and it feels like you've been transported to another space and time. There is a new visitor center that features an interesting history of the park with maps, photos and details and on how the trails were developed by the Conservation Corps back in the 1930s. We only hiked from the Upper Falls to Old Man's Cave and back to the visitor center and it took a little more than an hour. You could easily spend a half a day. And because we'd like to see the Lower Falls and the Rock House, we'll be back! It is definitely worth a visit, regardless of the time of year.

Ash Cave

This trail and location was by far my favorite. A nice plus is that the trail is wheelchair/mobility challenged friendly. The standard return trail goes up some into the hills so those that wish for that experience can have it, while the accessible trail also remains an option. It’s a pretty trail with lots of nature, and the sandy large Ash Cave is really beautiful. If you’re going to Hocking Hills, this is my number one recommendation from the few trails we did.

John Glenn Astronomy Park

Reviewed By cincygal2016 - Cincinnati, United States

Go on a clear night, of course. Take good binoculars but a telescope is preferred. Bundle up if it is cold but you will forget about the cold once you start looking at the stars. You won't want to stop looking. One of the best things Hocking Hills can offer to complete your day after hiking some of the other attractions. We plan to bring sleeping bags next time to just lay out & watch the sky. Great for seeing shooting stars.

Hocking Hills Canoe Livery

We are a canoe, kayak rental and camping center on the Hocking River. We offer both a 5 mile trip and a 7.5 mile trip. The 5 mile trip is better for beginners with less twists and turns in the river. Average paddling time is around 2 hours at summer level but we encourage folks to take their time and enjoy the many gravel bars on the trip, relax, your on river time! Our 7.5 mile trip is a very scenic area allowing you to stop and hike to the natural Rockbridge as well as watch the crazy zip liners going over your head toward the beginning of the trip, don’t worry, you are not in danger of them:). This trip at summer level can take between 3.5 to 4 hours of paddling time. When you are finished enjoying the river we do have private showers available to ease those aching muscles. We also have a great assortment of souvenir T-shirt’s and snacks available in our gift shop. We have been providing the best customer service since 1996! Please come join us for a day of fun on the river!

New to kayaking and went down to hocking hills to test our new kayaks! Got in a bind getting back to our cars, and Shane from Hocking Hill Canoe Livery was incredibly kind and helpful! Would highly recommend! We will definitely be using their services in the future!
