Hermosillo (Spanish pronunciation: [eɾmoˈsiʝo] ( listen)), formerly called Pitic (as Santísima Trinidad del Pitic and Presidio del Pitic) is a city located centrally in the northwestern Mexican state of Sonora. It is the capital and largest city as well as the main economic center for the state and region. As of 2015, the city has a population of 812,229 inhabitants, making it the 16th largest city in Mexico. The recent city population spur is due to its recent strong industrialization, especially in the automotive industry.

I would rate this place as best in Hermosillo. On top, you can view beautiful sun resting in the lap of Mountains. A panoramic view of the city in 270 degrees. In the night, city lights make it more amazing.

This place has something for everyone. There are about a dozen food trucks serving hotdogs to steak with everything in between. The lasagna at Bucatini is the best I've had in Hermosillo. They have live music on the weekends! Parking is easy and their is a great playground for children. They finally added some small dessert places as well.

You can do lots of things here, go to movies, go eat at restraunts, enjoy video games, and shop. You got nothing to do but want to spend time with your family, because this place is Air Conditioned(remember Hermosillo gets 40 degrees celcius or higher). Only complaint is lack of parking spaces and small parking spaces. Enjoy!!!

First of all friendly staffs will tell you and orient you about the museum. And also they will inform you about up coming events. I love this place. Also this museum is free to enter during the weekend... No money but want some quality time to spend... Here it is!!!!

It's just like any other plaza in most mexican states capital cities. It's well maintained and had lots of families walking around. But nothing that you can't see on every other city. If you are into buying local ice cones, fried snacks and watching kids making bubbles and playing with toy paper airplanes, you'll feel right at home there. It's nice enough way to spend a lazy weekend evening. If you are looking for a more cultural experience, better go to a museum.

Went with the wife and the kid, had a very good time on the Safari, animals are very separated one of the others, maintenance seems to be completely absent, some animals even seem to suffer. The hard seats on the safari trip worth the payment and feeding "Pancho" the giraffe was a great experience for us and the kid since Pancho grabs the food when you are not offering it and surprised a bunch of kids. The rest of the safari included hyenas, turtles, lions, ostriches and a bunch of African animals right out side the cart.

Exhibits change regularly here- VERY interesting!! There are cards in Spanish that explain what the pictures are of. Nearby in the Bicentennial Plaza there is an amazing store (Lutisuc Association Cultural) on the second floor (across from the suspended golden angel) where you can buy beautiful handmade products from the native peoples (Mayan, Yaqui, Seri, and others). The ladies in the store speak English and explain about how the items are made and the cultures ([email protected]). That store is open 9-1 and 4-8 Mon-Fri and Sunday 4-8PM.

Remodelado y pintado hace poco, el parque infantil ofrece un sinfín de juegos para que las niñas y niños se diviertan a precios accesibles. Ciertamente debería de haber becas o reducción de precio a quienes demuestren escasos recursos económicos. La fuente de agua saltarina es muy disfrutada por las y los pequeños. recomendable para un domingo familiar.

I have been to the Cerro de la Virgin many times. It's on the main highway to Guaymas, but 10 minutes out from Hermosillo, 20 minute roundtrip, minus how long you take to climb up stairs. I've never counted the stairs, but there are quite a few. An average person, I would say 5 minutes. It was quite warm so bring some water, but I would recommend for all age levels. I have seen people climb up on their knees as well.
But as you climb you will see flowers and plaques from people who have come to give offerings to the Virgin de Guadalupe for blessings asked for and received.
It is said a convict painted the image, that while he was in jail he prayed to the Virgin to save him from prison and if this occurred, he'd paint on a stone her image in the town of Hermosillo. So it was, and the tomb of former convict is at the foot of the painting in stone. I'm not sure how much of this is true and how much is legend, but I think someone by the name of William Jordan Enberg painted the image at the formerly known "Hill of Snakes," now known as the "Cerrito de la Virgin."
