Oruawharo Homestead & Garden

If you are travelling State Highway 2 through Central Hawles Bay then definitely make a booking for the visit and high tea - it is just a short detour off the main highway and absolutely well worth it. Peter and Dianne have undertaken a major task to restore this large house with years of work already completed and much restoration still to be done - but the outside and inside the house is stunning, there is some great colonial furniture, and interesting to see it as a work in progress. The hosts provide a fascinating history of a significant property whilst providing you with high tea (and a very worthwhile break in your journey through Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa).

Centennial Garden

This garden has been beautifully designed, turning an old quarry into a spectacular garden with a great array of plants and a "waterfall fountain" that actually has created a waterfall raining down from Bluff Point into the gardens, recycling the water back to the waterfall------this is a very relaxing place to visit.

This is an amazing garden full of great plants which have attracted lots of native birds to live here. It is hilly and quite step in places.

Clive Square

Beautiful park not far from the town centre, well kept and presented, colourful flower beds and stunning trees. Take a picnic and soak up the ambience. I came across it by accident, wondered through and then the charming bells played 5 songs, what a treat and I recognised them alI. I was in awe of such a beautiful feature these days, it is stunning. and the city is lucky to have such a unique feature.
