The Cedars

Beautiful, beautiful setting. A very informative tour of the studio and the house, (thanks Barbara). We tagged along halfway through, and very grateful we could. Lots to see and admire.. A real trip back in time to a beautiful house, with so many of Hans Heysen’s detailed Australian drawings and paintings to view. And those of his daughter, Nora. You don’t need to be an artist to appreciate the ambience and soul of the house. Well worth the trip and needs and deserves everyone’s support to maintain.

Hahndorf Hill Winery

We enjoyed the generous tasting of 6 different wines for only $5 per person, which was redeemed on purchase of wine. Lovely selection of whites, rose and reds, with varieties we’d not tried before. We shared a cheese platter, which was amazing, and my son had the chocolate cake, which he loved. Would have liked to try the chocolates but were full of cheese! Beautiful location, and child friendly too. Well worth a visit.

Wow definately worth it and not overpriced at all. We were lucky enough to arrive while a group of young school kids were there. The 2 ladies doing the talk/show about Daisy the cow are worth their weight in gold, informative and hilarious, we lived it. Patting the baby animals, feeding the greedy sheep and horse, the pony ride was a git with the grandchild. Will definately be back next time we're in Adelaide

Can't say how many times I've been into this shop - trust me, it's a lot! Every visit to Hahndorf someone seems to disappear into it's sugary goodness. A great range of old-time classics are available, so It's nice to have a treat whilst walking. Their fudges are really good too.

Somerled Wines

We enjoyed an afternoon in this winery with friends when recently visiting Hahndorf. The wines were delicious, especially the Shiraz. The food platters were perfectly suited to the wines. The staff had an exceptional knowledge of the wines and the history of the wine maker. Unlike other Adelaide Hill wineries you do have to pay for the tastings but it was worth it.

Hans Heysen Art Studio

Reviewed By Mike255100 - Melbourne, Australia

We were aware of the Heysen studio and decided we would visit on our next trip to Adelaide. We organised the 11:00AM Saturday tour and really enjoyed it. It lasted roughly one hour and it was packed with information.
The overall setting was wonderful. The studio with several examples of Heysen's approach of doing sketches, then a larger water colour and then finally perhaps an even larger oil painting. One could see how the end painting developed in his mind.
From the studio, it was then to the house itself. It like the family had just step out for a few minutes - a very home lived feel.
Australia is lucky to have such a memorial to a great artist.
