Basilica de Zapopan

This beautifully ornate church, built in 1690, is one of the city's oldest structures.

Zapopan is a small gem in the middle of Guadalajara. It's small and quaint. I wish I had had more time to explore this area. I'm looking forward to going back and eat in one of the many restaurants and look at the shops. I was so taken with this area I'm going to book a hotel here next time I visit Guadalajara.

This horses look like they are alive in such amazing sculptures, one of my favorites in Guadalajara. Very busy roundabout intersection.

Glorieta La Minerva

This Roman goddess statue is the gathering place after the Mexican soccer nationals.

If you like fountains, if you like statues, if you like the Goddess Athena (Minerva), or if you just like seeing really cool stuff, when in Guadalajara you much see the Fountain of Minerva. It is fantastic. Sitting in the middle of a giant fountain in the middle of a traffic circle, she dominates the landscape. And at night she is lit up and commands the night sky. A must see, especially if you are into Greek/Roman Gods and Goddesses.
