What to do and see in Gros Islet, Gros Islet Quarter: The Best Things to do

August 14, 2021 Mollie Coke

Gros Islet, on the northern tip of St. Lucia, is a blossoming destination, at once remote and exciting.  The best way to explore the shoreline may be Island Riders, where riding veterans and beginners alike can trot along on horseback and chat with the locals.  The Jump Up street party, perhaps the most recognized of the town's attractions, is also a must for a taste of Gros Islet's unique blend of food and music.

It’s is called fishing for a reason! Captain Rickie welcomes all like family with big warm hello and warm blessings, as we arrived on his vessel the crew ( Nicol, & Valery ) went off the safety procedures and amenities of the vessel , as we set out for our day of (fishing) we enjoyed conversations with crew and captain, we then stated to catch (1,2,3 ) all at one time sad to say only one made it to the vessel, but it tasted great , captain Ricky prepares a terrific local recipe for that sail fish (who knew) the crew knew what an excellent chef Captain Rickie is as well as an excellent captain, we stayed trying to catch those other elusive fish think one was a marlin but no more catching only(fishing) we had such a wonderful time, we recommend everyone and anyone who wants to fish to go with (captain lobo) aka Rickie and crew maybe you will start fishing and then start catching

What a welcoming group of parishioners! We arrived 40 minutes before worship started. People coming in, greeting one another all while the rosary is being recited. As the bells ring calling all to Mass, someone saw that we didn’t have a missal or hymnal and gave us theirs. Wonderful music, choir, and worshiper voices. A great place to praise and thank God for the many gifts he sends our way. The photo I am including was taken shortly after we arrived. The church was full by the time Mass began at 7:30 am. 2 hours later, having shook many hands and enjoyed many hugs and a meaningful sermon and reception of our Lord, we left loving this island and it’s people.

My 9 year old daughter and my husband did this water park. It’s located at the end of Reduit Beach. $13pp for 1 hour You can purchase a half day They accept credit cards with ID You have to sign an injury release. You need to know that this is a strenuous activity, and there is potential for twisted ankles and wrists. Park is for age 6 and up And we felt it wouldn’t be good for kids under 6-too difficult. Truthfully under the age of 10, an adult may need to help with climbing up from the water to the platforms. They say that children MUST be accompanied by parent or guardian at all times, however there are many children seemingly without supervision. They have rules: you cannot have any injuries or medical issues. We’ve seen many of these parks. This one seems the most organized and “legit” out of all of them. The entire operation is branded, life jackets are assigned and requires, there are multiple lifeguards on the course to help you and cheer you on!!! Obstacle course includes Rope climbing Rock climbing High jumping Slides Trampoline Monkey bars Etc.. All in all an excellent water park

A group of us visited Fort Rodney in November 2020 while venturing through Pigeon Point National Park (see separate review). The scenery is spectacular and the history is very interesting to learn. Everything is labeled well and it is really amazing to hike to Fort Rodney and see the layout. I highly recommend it! See photos.

Pigeon Island Causeway Beach

Reviewed By paulrad4d - Doncaster, United Kingdom

We arrived in St. Lucia to find everyone from the Cruise ships trying to get to Rodney Bay so we opted for the less busy Pigeon island beach. Great choice, small beach with plenty of sunbeds, lovely gentle slope into perfect carribean waters. Small selection of bars but by far the best was the guys who turned up on a boat selling g fresh fruit and more importantly rum punch ???????? He hollowed out a pineapple and filled it with crushed ice and rum punch. Perfect in that location and it made the day for us????????????
