What to do and see in Gros Islet, Gros Islet Quarter: The Best Hidden Gems Things to do

September 21, 2021 Darwin Bolte

Gros Islet, on the northern tip of St. Lucia, is a blossoming destination, at once remote and exciting.  The best way to explore the shoreline may be Island Riders, where riding veterans and beginners alike can trot along on horseback and chat with the locals.  The Jump Up street party, perhaps the most recognized of the town's attractions, is also a must for a taste of Gros Islet's unique blend of food and music.

LucianStyle Segway Day Tours

St. Lucia Segway Adventure Guests are picked up and are taken to the ‘LucianStyle Experience Center’ located in the heart of the tourism capital, Rodney Bay. After a brief orientation, guests are escorted over to our Segway adventure track and taught how to ride the amazing Segway X2. After about a ten minute lesson the group gets to head ‘off-road’ on the LucianStyle exclusive 2 mile-long Nature Trail, part of an abandoned US Navel Base. On the trail, guests will enjoy amazing views of the Rodney Bay coastline, Pigeon Island, Mount Gimie, Reduit Beach and Martinique. Stops are made to feed fish at Stone Face Fish Pond, enjoy local fruits, and to learn about local flora along with the military history associated with the ruins of Mt. Pimard. The tour lasts for about 2 hours and ends at the same location that it starts at. Guests are then taken back to their respective points of pickup

Cook Like A Lucian

Reviewed By _davidtys - Bolton, United Kingdom

Tony picked us up from the cruise port and drove us to his kitchen. There was just the 2 of us and so my wife and myself had real personal attention. Tony was very patient as, by own admission, I am not the greatest cook ! Anyway we prepared chicken broth with green bananas and breadfruit, followed by salt cod with vegetables, chicken cooked in caramelised brown sugar with a tomato and cucumber salad, fried Plantain and fried bread. we the neat what we had prepared or more accurately ate part of what we had prepared as there was an enormous amount of food. It was all great but to me the 2 standouts were the chicken broth and the fried plantain. To end the meal Tony prepared hot chocolate with grated nutmeg and cocoa along with other spices. Again it was fab !! We would highly recommend Tony for a fun and informative cookery course but I suggest you don't eat any breakfast as lunch is very substantial.
