Greensburg is a city in and the county seat of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States, and a part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area. The city lies within the Laurel Highlands and the ecoregion of the Western Allegheny Plateau. The city is named after Nathanael Greene, a major general of the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War. The population was 14,892 at the 2010 census.

The old theater has been lovingly restored and kept up very well. It has shows from concerts to plays to special local events to comedians. It has seen names such as (these are ones I attended) Kenny Rogers, George Carlin, Chi Lites, Travis Tritt, Blue Man Group, Stomp and so many more, even I have been to, that I can't even remember!

It's worth seeing the updated Museum of Art for the architecture itself. And, the view from the upper level is amazing. Add an exceptional permanent collection, a variety of short term exhibits and installations, project nights, Jazz during the winter, Free days with cafe, you have a great way to spend a day or evening. One can be a member; yet nonmembers are, also, welcomed and encouraged. There are complimentary lectures as well as venues with nominal costs. Something for everyone ~ young, old, teens, and in between. I recently visited for a specialty event and was able to view the latest installation. It was amazing.

This mall has all of the normal anchor stores and small shops. It is a typical mall, though larger than most. The holiday train ride is a hit with small kids. The line to see Santa is long and takes a long time. Kids are pretty fidgety by the time they get to Santa.
There is a pretty good food court and an attached Panera that has better food.

There is not a lot of things you can do for free anymore but concerts in the park are great and free. A really nice way to spend an evening on fridays during the summer.

This is a beautiful, serene, welcoming, quiet place to worship or to stay in the Robertshaw Country House. You are accommodated in a wonderful by extremely caring sisters......I would love to stay here again.

This is a pretty courthouse. It's nice to walk around outside it. We went in and there is not much to see, but they do have a few pamphlets about area parks and such.

All Saints Brewing Company is a must when in the area. The beers are all very good. The owner/brew master is a local living his dream. The facility is large enough to accommodate groups big and small. The staff is friendly. This is not a brewpub so pack a sandwich if you want food. The Crimson Halo is an interesting creation that does not disappoint. Stop in and enjoy a pint or two, three, .......

On February 25, 1991, an Iraqi scud missile hit a US Army barracks in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. The 14th Quartermaster Detachment stationed in Greensburg, Pennsylvania lost 13 soldiers in the attack and 43 wounded making them the unit to suffer the largest number of casualties in the conflict. 15 soldiers from other units were also killed in the attack.
The small town of Greensburg was devastated and locals began collecting money to create a memorial to the soldiers who served. A year later a beautiful memorial was dedicated on the grounds of the Greensburg Armory grounds. Through the years, the memorial neglected and this year it was restored to its original beauty and it is a beautiful memorial to the soldiers.
I just visited Washington, D.C. and think the 14th Quartermaster Detachment Memorial is the same quality and beauty as some of the memorials along the National Mall, although it is much smaller.
A majestic eagle stands atop the memorial and welcomes visitors. Plaques honor the soldiers and list the names of all 69 soldiers who served from the Greensburg unit.
A casting of a soldier's boots, rifle and helmet symbolize the lives lost. Two life-size figures cast in bronze depict a kneeling male and a standing female dressed in their uniforms paying honor to their fallen comrades. Flags adorn the memorial which faces Saudi Arabia. In the back is a lovely wooded area.
The memorial can be hard to find if you are not familiar with the area. The Armed Forces Reserve Center is next door to Greensburg Central Catholic High School. Look for the road leading to Central Catholic High School off Keystone Ave. At the top of the small high, turn right into the Reserve's parking lot and make an immediate right to see the memorial.
The memorial is small but beautiful and does not warrant a visit to Greensburg if it is out of your way but if you are in this lovely city, spend a few minutes visiting this memorial to the proud soldiers.

Lynch field is a really nice park in Greensburg, PA. There is walking and jogging trails along with playgrounds ,picnic table, pavilions ,swimming pool and a water slide. There is also a access to the old railroad track trails that run from Greensburg to the Community college in Youngwood.
