My husband completed his Advanced PADI certification with Dodo Divers.
He contacted them prior to arrival and they were very responsive and got back to him on all questions asked.
The one thing that stood out to him was how safety conscious they are. Having dived in many places before, Dodo Divers stood out in this respect.
The boat was good, dive sites they took him to were all different, from wrecks to caves.
Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the North of Mauritius to use this dive centre.

We were staying at Veranda Paul & Virginie which is about two minutes from Sun Tropicals office. We were advised to check out the tours here as they represented better value for money.
We met with Manisha who was really helpful, who explained what they could organise and we opted to do two tours, one to Port Louis and the Botanical Gardens which was a half day and another to the South West of the island which was a full day. Both trips were excellent.
Our driver on both tours was Akash who was a lovely guy, he was pleasant and very helpful and the longer you spent with him you found out he has a wicked sense of humour too. He was very knowledgeable and keen to explain about all of the places we visited and was happy to accommodate any specific requests you made. The vehicle we had was fairly new and very clean inside and out with good air con.
I would definitely recommend Sun Tropical Tours I'd you want to see a bit of the Island

We had 3 trips with Isa and each of them were incredible! First of all, our driver Ravin was a very professional, always smiling person telling us all the stories about Mauritius, showing and making us experience additionaly totally new things like : looking at the oldest tree on the island, tasting Tamarin and sugar cane directly from the field, admiring view from the best perspectives were no other tourists were going.
About the trips:
1) Ile aux Cerfs
We still call it: best spent money ever :) We compared things that we did on this trip with other trips offered in our hotel or experienced by our friends and we are sure we had the best trip. Two fishermen took just 2 of us first to see a waterfall and then to the East side of Ile aux Cerfs, less touristic, full of peace, silence and paradisiac views. We were snorkeling, they were showing us a lot of creatures living in the ocean, then prepared a barbacue for us with contained also sea urchin that we grabbed with them before. Then after few hours we went aso to the West side of Ile aux Cerfs, lagoon, the one which is also beautiful but certainly more touristic. Other friends from our hotel who chose other offers came only to this place, had a barbacue and boat for many people, while our trip was just for 2 of us on nicer side of the island :) totally worth it!!!
2) From Curepipe to Chamarel: all day long with Ravin who took us to Shipmodels Factory, Trou aux Cerfs, Grand Bassin, Chamarel and many other places were we could admire beautiful nature of this Island, full range from North to South. We were speachless :)
3) Trekking to 7 Waterfalls. Incredible views are getting only better while we are going further! You can swim and even get a massage in waterfall, then after you can sit at the edge of a small lake were little fish are making pedicure for your feet :P What's more, the satisfaction after climbing and hiking in this beautiful scenery is unforgettable!
Thank you Isa for incredible time we had <3

Divesail Lux Grand-Gaube

The North coast offers beautiful diving opportunities: reefs, cliffs and wrecks are all lively and very colorful. 15 minutes by boat from Lux Grand Gaube Dive centre is the Gunners Coin Island, a small islet that has been declared a nature reserve since 1983. The Gunners Coin has a volcanic origin, beautiful rough cliffs. A number of native birds can be seen flying around the islet.

I've been diving at the Divesail center at Lux Grand-Gaube for years now, and I have to recommend it. The team is great from start to finish, with great instructors, warm welcomes and most especially amazing dives. I passed my Padi Open Water there and couldnt be more well-trained. I can't wait to become an Advanced diver, to be able to explore more of their beautiful sites. Don't hesitate and go for it!

Pointe Bernache

Reviewed By raymondbates - Grand Gaube

I have visited Pointe Bernache (known simply as Bernache) on numerous occasions over the last few decades. It never looses its magic. Located to the North East of Mauritius it is close to the larger island of Ile d'Ambre (Amber Island)and is best reached from the villages of Grand Gaube or Poudre d'Or. It is not far from the shipwreck in 1744 of the Saint Greran. It takes about half an hour, and when departing from Grand Gaube or Poudre d'Or, boats stay inside the reef. on the way there are spectacular views of the Mountains of Mauritius. Bernache is flat and covered in pine trees. There is not much to see, but the swimming is superb. Trips used to be arranged through the local fishermen but understandably this is no longer permitted, and licensed boats must be used. Tours can be arranged from the hotels in the area or from the Grande Gaube/ Poudre d'Or. A trip will normally include a BBQ lunch under the shade of a tarpaulin and plenty of drinks. Some tours will include a visit to the mangroves on Ile d Ambre. This is not to be missed. An alternative is to go by Kyak. Organized by Yema Adventures it is a great way to visit the mangroves, and for the fit the 2 hour trip to Bernache. Unfortunately with the increase in popularity there has been an increase in rubbish on Bernache. This is a great shame as it is an island intended only for footprints.
