Mountainside Wines

Reviewed By Tahla - Ararat, Australia

Seen a sign post for this vineyard and thought, why not? So very pleased we made the effort to stop. We were travelling as a group of four and upon arriving at Mountainside Wines the first thing we noticed was the cellar door (an actual door as the sign, look for it). We were met by Jane and Hunter (the dog) and from there we werer treated to a very informative explanation of the vineyard and wines. They have some great wines here and we were lucky enough to be invited to sit on the verandah of the Blue House to enjoy a glass. The surroundings are fantastic, peaceful and media free. Go here and enjoy the experience.

This place is amazing. Great view, great wine, superb service. It’s a little bit out of the way - but worth the trip. We tasted some amazing whites and reds. Good price and superb wine. Andrea served us and was impeccable. A full narration of the wine and its history. The wine is not mass produced so is small lot, and is so popular that many styles were not available. But we still managed 9 + wines all of really high quality.

Visiting Wimmera Hills Winery was a most enjoyable experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys wine tasting. Jane and Ben are to be commended on providing us with in depth and wonderful experience. Ben, who has a passion for creating and making a variety of wine and distilling gin, gave us an excellent commentary on the processes he uses to produce his fine products. Jane then provided us with an delicious platter of gourmet food that exquisitely complimented our wine and gin tasting. We thank you both for your hospitality and for sharing your knowledge and talents with us. If you’d like a similar experience please book an appropriate time and allow a few hours for this wonderful experience. An ‘yes’ be ready to take one wine and gin home with you. Thank you again, Jane and Ben.

After two very ordinary tasting experiences at other big wineries we were elevated by the quality wines, the cellar door design and the delightful staff member. Highly recommended- we joined the wine club and look forward to lots of that gorgeous rose!
