Just the place to enjoy a great coastal walk while admiring a beautiful view across the water. Adequate car parking including wheelchair spaces. Also very clean and well provided toilets. The disabled toilet facilities were excellent. A refreshment van was also parked. The small beach is a mixture of sand, rocks and pebbles and seemed to provide plenty of entertainment for the children playing there

Travelled two return journeys so far to visit the town of Dunoon as hope to retire there soon. This ferry journey is execeptionally good value for money when tickets purchased at the Cooperative store on the road to the ferry terminal at Gourock.
£23.50 for a car, driver and passenger is a value day out. The journey across the water isn't too long ,around 40mins one way. The ferry guys make it so simple "drive on and drive off" a bit like "wax on and wax off Clean ladies and gents on-board and sit in your car or on deck or for shelter inside with Seating and warmth for the colder days. Great chance to take the camera and snap some wonderful photos of Scotland that we sometimes forget . A family day out with a difference. Try the Western Ferry experience across the water from Gourock to Hunters Quay....relax and enjoy....

I love going to Flava for coffee and a scone. Only problem is they frequently run out of scones quite early in the day. There is also a good breakfast and lunch menu. The view is spectacular and it's handy if you visit Gourock pool.

Granny Kempock Stone

Reviewed By Whatbob - Glasgow, United Kingdom

A 6 feet tall megalithic stone known as Granny Kempock maybe due to its resemblance to an old woman stands on a cliff behind Kempock Street. It is menhir, is grey mica schist and of indeterminate origin, but may be an old altar to the pagan god Baal, or a memorial to an ancient battle. The stone is covered in centuries old graffiti and some older mysterious symbols. There is a superstition that for sailors going on a long voyage or a couple about to be married, walking seven times around the stone would ensure good fortune. There is an link with witchcraft. In 1662 Mary Lamont and a group of other local women were burned to death after it was alleged her coven had danced around the stone on the Sabbath, with the intention of cursing and sinking shipping that passed through the Clyde.
A flight of steps winds up to the stone from Kempock Street below.

We stayed in Gourock the last three nights of our 10 day Scotland trip. Before we left the states I reached out to Stuart with Tartan Tours. It was heaven from there. He was quick to respond to all questions and emails. We asked to incorporate a trip to a distillery and booked everything for us and made it all happen. He picked us up promptly from our hotel at the agreed upon time and off we went. Stuart was an exceptional host. He loves Scotland and is passionate about sharing all you could ever hope to know. He was patient with all our questions and we have a full and fantastic day learning about William Wallace. This private tour is a perfect way see areas you might not otherwise venture to on your own. Stuart was kind enough to not only recommend a place for dinner but even called and made the Reservations for us. We had such a great time we even met him later for a pint at The Spinnaker Hotel (see review).
This was the hi light of our trip and I feel like I left with a new friend.
