Sunset Point Park

Reviewed By CraigleithTrip-taker - Collingwood, Canada

It's the beginning of winter in Collingwood and the kind of huge waves and strong winds have been wreaking havoc on the shoreline on southern Georgian Bay. Most recently, Sunset Point Park -- which was started thanks to the Rotary Club of Collingwood back in the 1960s -- has been taking a pounding from Mother Nature. The strong winds and relentless, pounding waves have caused some erosion along the Sunset Point Park area at Collingwood's waterfront. For your safety, it's smart to stay away from the damaged areas which are now under the scrutiny of the towns parks, recreation and culture department. The good news is that there is lots of park area there and much more in other waterfront areas of Collingwood. Check out Harbourview Park, behind McDonald's on First Street, and be sure to stroll through the Arboretum, even in winter.

Dunks Bay

This has to be the smallest beach I have ever gone to. Got to be 50 to 100 feet wide and as deep. No parking fees and limited parking close by, so go early fpr prime parking spaces. No tents or BBq's allowed on beach and one small change room. Water is crystal clear, but rather cold this year due to higher water levels. a wonderful little gem with no costs to enjoy a fun time at the beach.

Northwinds Beach

Reviewed By Ggreendd - Blue Mountains, Canada

This is the best beach west of Wasaga: small and secluded, but getting more popular each year. It has picnic tables, barbeques, a playground, a boat launch, rocks and of course a sandy beach and grassed areas plus washrooms. If the parking lot is full, you can park on Lakeshore which can be accessed from Grey Road 19 and Kitzbuhl.

Little Cove Beach

Really gorgeous scenery, the water looked great for swimming (it was too cold while we were there) although you would definitely need water shoes due to the rocks. Our dog was not a fan of walking on all the rocks either. Nice, short hike to get there. You can keep walking towards the Grotto from there too although we didn't.
