Cleveland Skydiving Center

Reviewed By Mark M - North Ridgeville, Ohio

For years, I've thought about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. My family and friends thought I was nuts.

Well, I am and I did... and I would do it again! And I'm glad I chose the Cleveland Skydiving Center for my first time.

Although you won't find a fancy airport at 15199 Grove Road in Garrettsville, Ohio; you will find a staff of well trained instructors that work hard to make your jump as safe and fun as possible. Of course, you will sign a waiver promising not to sue should something go wrong - but that's what you have to expect for a "rush of a lifetime!" Hey, if President George H W Bush can do it on his 85th birthday - than how tough can it be?

Tandem jumping takes minimal training because the instructor you're attached to controls most of the activity. The training - watching a video and one-on-one instruction takes about an hour.

My package included photos of myself and a friend receiving instruction, putting on the jump gear, boarding the plane, the actual jump and landing - all provided on a CD as a slideshow. The photos with this review were part of my package. You can also upgrade to live video for an extra charge.

Once you complete your jump, you'll want to get a t-shirt commemorating the experience. They even have one that has skydiving checked off on a bucket list - very cool!

I would suggest bringing all the staff from your office for a real "team-building" experience. Yeah, that'll happen. ;-)

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park

Reviewed By Tweentrails - Oklahoma

Nelson-Kennedy Ledges State Park is only 167 acres but it has a fascinating variety of crevices, cliffs, caves, rock formations, and waterfalls. Since my first visit six years ago, the parking lot has been enlarged and the pit-toilet bathroom improved. Also boardwalks were added to aid footing and keep the paths out of water. Unfortunately, the boardwalks are breaking down and--to my knowledge--the paths have never been well marked. Many of the "trails" were created simply by people exploring at random. If you're serious about a visit, it's important to run off copies of the maps on the park's website (parks.ohiodnr.gov/nelsonkennedyledges). Though there are some potentially hazardous dropoffs and crevices in a few spots, this park can with supervision be a good place for children to explore.

Camp Hi Canoe Livery

We arrived around 10:30am on a summer Saturday to find parking lot quite full& the process unclear. We had our own kayaks so we paid $13 each for transport to 7 mile drop off. Staff happily loaded our equipment to start trip but we were expected to carry our kayaks quite far to parking lot upon returning. The bus transportation is first come first serve so stand in field in front of main building for pickup. One porta-potty at drop off spot - nature would be only option until end of trip. No food or drink options along river but coolers & food allowed. Signage says no alcohol on trips but no one checks. Water VERY calm for the majority of the trip & often unshaded - be prepared to paddle with lots of sunscreen applied. No markers along the river to indicate how much of trip left.

Best kayaking experience ever. Doug was so friendly and knowledgeable. The kayaks and life jackets were so clean (unlike other places we have been). The kayaks were super comfy too with adjustable seats and foot rests. We did the 5 mile trip and it was...MoreThanks Patti. West Branch State Park

Reviewed By Headwindtom - Madison

Be aware most sites are not full hookups. We thought we reserved a full hookup but it was electric only. Our bad. The route we took came from I-76 through Edinburg. Rock Spring road from Edinburg to the park is very rough, and it's about 5 miles long. The sides of the roads have been patched and not very well. Check in was quick as we only had to pick up our car pass and park map. However, we had some questions later and the staff seemed pretty uninformed. We had to pull into a parking lot on the other side of the check in area to unhook our car and then backtrack to our site. We were in site 1, and just so you know, sites 1-3 are right in front of where you check in. There must be quite the roadblock on busy check in days while people are trying to back into these spaces. Most of the sites are fairly short so few will handle large units. Site 1 is paved, long and pretty level. We were not able to get satellite coverage due to trees. Verizon cell worked fine. There is no WII FI. Quiet at night, and lots of boats and jet skis during the day. The showers are utilitarian. There was a sign indicating if the water was cold to let it run 15 minutes!?! Be ready for the no see um biters when you are outside! The picnic table has seen better days. Seems like a busy weekend place for local boaters. The price for value is low at $28 plus $8 reservation fee for electric only. We wouldn't stay here again.

I had never heard of Ma & pa's, but bought a Groupon for an afternoon sleigh ride! Tammy was very helpful and sweet when making reservations an the gentleman that operated our sleigh was very pleasant as well. My family thoroughly enjoyed the 25 min sleigh ride and we had hot cider, coffee and cookies when we returned. There is a cute little gift shop with items made fom locals and misc items. I didn't purchased anything, but enjoyed looking around. The only disappointing part were the port a John restroom facilities. For the price charged an indoor restroom should be a priority.

With over 500 acres of land, this Hiram College facility has trails and a nature center open to the public. (Nature Center is closed on weekends, however).
