Gallipolis (/ˌɡæləpəˈlis/ GAL-ə-pə-LEES) is a chartered village in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Gallia County. The municipality is located in Southeast Ohio on the Ohio River. The population was 3,641 at the 2010 census. When the population dropped below 5,000, Gallipolis became a village, but continues to operate under its existing city charter.

Somewhat of a biker bar but their Happy Hour is great. They have great burgers and other pub food. The owners are in the place on a regular basis and keep the place nice. Don't ever be hesitant to order food here. Great staff.

We lucked up on this neat gem and must admit that we were intrigued! It is a nice area but it was a little difficult to find parking. Very nice shop and it did inspire us to watch the movie!

In 1967 the Silver Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River joining Ohio and West Virginia on U S 35 collapsed without warning killing about 30 people and injuring over 200 people. Prior to this collapse of bridge there had been many sightings of the creature known as the Mothman in this area. According to legend a Mothman always appears prior to a natural or a man made disaster and Point Pleasant is no exception. Very interesting statue and well worth the stop to take picture of if you are anywhere within the area. Very interesting legend!

Kudos to PP, WV, for taking such good care of this park and maintaining it as an active, relevant link to history. The murals along the outside of the flood wall are outstanding, and I think a new addition since the last time I was in town. I have been visiting this park periodically for 5 decades and it's a different experience each time. Maddeningly, my visits have always been after the building exhibits are closed.
An easy stroll down to this park from the Lowe hotel along the flood wall, and then you can go back up the street and make an interesting and relaxing loop.

I think the boat driving simulator was our favorite part.
Jack Fowler has provided an amazing tribute to Point Pleasant with this museum! Ask a few questions of him or anyone else there and you will get some first-hand information, and guidance regarding things in the museum.

This museum is unique and the only one of it's kind in THE WORLD!! Also has a Ship's Store with all kinds of Navy souvenirs from Tshirts, hats, decals, postcards, posters (genuine and reproductions). Also has the only public collection of PATRIOTIC PINUP GIRLS ( all family friendly :) ) Come on by if you're driving through Point Pleasant some weekend!! You will be glad you did!!

This is a cool little museum that people who love history and/or art will appreciate and enjoy. Also, if you support our military...please visit! We arrived before the fort opened, but the exhibits outside the barricade were still informative and interesting. They explained a little about early forts and fit pieces of the pre-revolutionary period together for me. A poster also described interesting annual events there, including a 'critter dinner'!
