This is a very big rain forest and in a single tour we can see only a very small area. We stayed in Rainforest Eco Lodge and took the tour from there. There were many leaches but hotel provided us leach socks. Even the small kids around 4 -8 years old joined with us and they too enjoyed the tour.

Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications

We visited Galle on a day trip from Negombo. It's very clean and surprisingly not many people around except many courting couples hidden in the nooks and crannies behind a strategically placed umbrella :) We have a lovely walk around the Clock Tower and enjoyed the views of the ocean, Internation Cricket Ground and activities going on around the fort. A few vendors around the place touting their wares but not pushy. Nice historic fort to visit for a few hours.

Dalawella Beach

Reviewed By Jacksonsinbrighton - Brighton, United Kingdom

What a fantastic place, the lagoon is huge and brilliant for kids and beginner snorkelers. At the entrance water is rough and deep and that is where the turtles come in. We sat in the water for a few hours, floating along the rocky edges in our snorkels watching the fish, eels go about there business. It is annoying when everyone chases the turtles around rather than let them come to you!! Restaurants along the beach here are good. A make shift cafe at the far end for a breeze and lounger on the sand.

Dutch Reformed Church

Reviewed By BVvdB - The Netherlands, null

In the summer of 2018 we (Dutch familie of 4, kids 13 and 18) travelled to discover the beauties of Sri Lanka. At our first visit at the fort we walked by the reformed church. In building style totally different than any church in the Netherlands, but in plan and function the same. Of great interest are the thombstones on the floor of the church with old Dutch-language texts on the colonists: what their function was and their age... They died so young! There must be people buried from our hometown Middelburg (one of the VOC-cities in the Golden Age), but we could only manage to find a woman from Vlissingen (6km. from our hometown). All in all a must see when you visit the fortress of Galle.

Reviewed By Vachintha - Colombo, Sri Lanka

One of the oldest buildings in the Galle Fort. It's said to have been built during the Dutch colonial era and still the structure and designs are well preserved even with the recent modifications. This building has been used for various purposes during the past. As of today, it is developed to be a shopping and dining precinct.
