Atlanta Botanical Garden

The first 5 acres phase of our garden opened May 2, 2015. Located on 168 acres of land donated by Charles and Lessie Smithgall, the Garden is destined to be one of the largest and most diverse woodland gardens in the country. Ground was broken in April 2013 on the first 5 acre phase. The Gainesville location is a new destination for connecting with beauty and the natural world. Complete with a visitor center, outdoor gardens, a model train garden and an amphitheater, it will also be a cultural center for the community hosting exciting exhibitions, events, and educational programs. The nationally recognized collections will expand the horticultural palette of Atlanta Botanical Garden. The Garden has already developed a sophisticated horticultural operation and the largest conservation nursery in the Southeast on the property. Endangered plants will be propagated on the site for the conservation program.

Opened just 2½ years ago (May of 2015), this campus in Gainesville of the Atlanta Botanical Garden is a treat. The grounds are immaculate with nice wide sidewalks and the majority of plants are nicely identified. The admission is only $8 for adults and $5 for children aged 3-12. If you're a member of the Atlanta Botanical Garden (in Atlanta), you're a garden member and there's no entrance fee. Closed on Mondays. The hours of the garden differ depending on the time of year: April - October, 9-6, November - March, 10-4. We went on a day when they held their fall plant sale and there were trees, plants, and container-style plants that you don't often find at local nurseries ... and reasonably priced. We enjoyed a very casual and peaceful walk. Looking forward to returning in the spring.

Love this new park, it's proximity to Gwinnett Co, easy get away.. quiet trails and water!! We load our kayaks up and are on the water ...either the quieter area of the Chattahoochee River as it enters lake Lanier or the more open busier lake areas ...within 35-40 mins.
Love the regular farm land and horse farms in the area, as you approach ...even though you are just a few mins north of Gainesville !
Great staff, beautiful visitors center, east lakeside hiking trails, nice cabins including pet friendly.

This is a great park but it gets very busy. The walking trial is long and there is a covered bridge that the kids all call the troll bridge. It's dark and mossy for the little kids, and looks like a fairy trail with all the ferns. This is a great place to take pics.

Kinsey Family Farm

Family environment with fall harvest activities including pumpkin patch, barn animals, kids field trips and hayrides. Holiday season pick your own cut and live Christmas trees.

We were absolutely charmed by Kinsey Family Farm. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and while there was lots of family, children, etc getting pumpkins and checking out the animals, it never felt packed or touristy. There was a great selection of pumpkins, apples, fall items and such. We loved supporting a local family business as well! If you are in the area it is worth checking out.

I have participated in classes at the Quinlan, sent my children here for Art Camp, enjoyed the exhibitions and purchase art here for my home. It is an amazing place with a dedicated group of teaching artists. Art Camp is the greatest! My children always ask "When is Art Camp?" before school even ends. You will not be disappointed with a class or activity here. I am also excited about the addition of the garden and the anticipated musicians who will play here. It's just a lovely place.

I have lived in Hall County for 15 years and never visited this museum. It was a mistake not to do so. I bring all visitors here now. It really is impressive the collections they have and they history they teach. Honestly history museums are not my thing usually, but this one impressed me.

Cool Springs Blueberry Farm

Reviewed By Dennis W - Orlando, Florida

We have been coming to Cool Springs for 4-5 years now and have never been disappointed. Kim and Mark provide all the resources and expertise you need to gather enough blueberries and blackberries to make pies, jams and jellies, cobblers and refreshing desserts for any holiday or occasion. The berries are usually ripe for picking toward mid-June to July. We generally stop in around the 4th of July weekend so we can have plenty of blueberry pie and ice cream for the holiday. The grandchildren have a ball gathering the berries, helping to turn them into luscious desserts and, of course, devouring them. The prices are more than fair and the berries are always plentiful and tasty. Best to arrive early in the day to avoid the heat.

Join us each Friday from May 26 through September 29 at Gainesville's traditional farmers market on the Historic Downtown Square for local fresh-picked produce, honey, farm-fresh eggs, pasture-raised pork and beef, jams and jellies, baked goods, cut flowers, hand-made crafts, food items, and live music. All vendors are hand-picked and invited to participate by the market manager. This is not an open market. It's recommended that folks wanting to become vendors visit the Market first to see what types of vendors are already part of the Market and who our customers are to make sure that what you are offering is unique and that people will be interested. We have limited space and a limited customer-base and, therefore, do not have multiple vendors selling the same items. Local musicians start playing at 3:00 each week All major credit cards accepted

We stopped by to stock up on some fresh veggies and fruits. They had a live band to liven things up. There was people selling fresh baked goods with nutritious foods, homemade honey, herbs, jams & jellies with some preserves, fresh veggies, breads, salsa, fresh fruits, recipes, nuts, fresh cut flowers, hand-made soaps and body lotions, clothing and knitted accessories, jewelry, dog accessories and even some cool easy recipes to try. Everyone was so nice, the prices were reasonable, there was space to sit down and take in the view, they had ample free parking across the street and the vendors were spaced out where it made it easy to shop especially if you have smal children with you like I did. We will definitely be going back again!
