What to do and see in Fukuoka, Kyushu-Okinawa: The Best City Tours

June 18, 2021 Randal Brittian

Fukuoka is a gourmet paradise... "providing you're not vegetarian," say travelers on our Fukuoka forum! It's right on Genkai Sea, and the seafood is fresh and abundant. So is Fukuoka-style ramen, which you can find at the city's famous yatai (outdoor stalls) as well as modern restaurants. Walk off your meal at Ohori Park and the nearby Fukuoka Castle ruins.

The flexibility to chose locations that suited our wants and abilities was great. Hiro San was very quick to put together an itinerary that accommodated a family with a stroller-baby (no monkey park due to long unpacked walking paths). Taking in the beautiful temples and view of the Kyoto from the west was breath taking and the guide was able to explain many things we as new Japanese learners could not read or know through cultural knowledge. Overall a great experience, a wonderful and lively guide, and some great memories.

Hakata Station, 中央街-1-1 博多駅 Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0012, Japan Shannon Lefebvre

This tour has a combination of walking and the use of a very convenient public transport system. This walking tour of Fukuoka City can accommodate up to 10 members. Pick ups and drop offs at the International Port Terminal / Hakata Station or a local hotel is all part of the service.

Inclusions: A sit down lunch or something on the go is provided during the tour., A free Kimono Rental for up to 1 hour is included in the price.

We have happily hired Shannon Lefebvre twice for our two visits to Nagasaki. Yes, we did the usual tourist sites, but he also gives you an enjoyable glimpse of daily life in the area, including -- weather permitting -- a tasty picnic lunch and immersing your tired traveler's feet in soothing hot springs water. An excellent day trip for cruise ship passengers or other visitors to Nagasaki and vicinity.
