During out walk in Frigiliana we came across these panels which are telling the history. We found around 8 but there are 12 we noticed later. The panels are in old Spanish but with pictures. On the internet later we found the route for all 12 panels. Great addition to this Anton Piek place.

This was a lovely walk. The path getting out of Frigiliana was a little unclear, but we used a walking app so we didn't get lost. After leaving the town the path was very clear. A few ups and down so not too intense. Stunning scenery.

What a gem! We had no idea how beautiful the interior would be. You can tell how much pride is taken in this Church by its congregation. So worth a visit!

Castillo de Lizar

Reviewed By JeffB64CPR - Derby, United Kingdom

Frigiliana is an extremely busy tourist spot, but if you want the best of the village, just follow the signs to El Castillo. It winds up the narrow streets and steps, before eventually passing a splendid restaurant (the Garden Restaurant - closed on Mondays, unfortunately) and then a lovely garden with several unusual trees overhanging the path, and a range of striking sculptures. After that it is steps and rough track to reach the top of the old fort, with wonderful views across the axarquia, and (with binoculars) a clear view to North Africa. Careful near the burros, but otherwise just a stupendous little walk, and very few tourists climb that far so you have it to yourselves.

We found all these marionette shows (some in the back streets) and thoroughly enjoyed their simple rustic charm. Yes, they are totally outdated, and have obviously not been well loved lately, but when you consider them as a piece of history, and imagine all the early tourists gathering around to watch ... before the days of TV and Smartphones, then they are truly fascinating.

With the streets being cobbled and in areas very steep a rest and a cool drink is something you can do in the church square.
