What to do and see in Fremont, Washington (WA): The Best Things to do

July 8, 2021 Emerita Lamoureux

In Seattle you simply can’t skip the Central Public Library – a modern architectural marvel of glass grids, unusual shapes, and a “book spiral” that climbs four stories. Stroll over to Pike Place Market to visit the original Starbucks and play catch with a fishmonger. In the heart of the city lies Chihuly Garden and Glass, which will dazzle you with its colorful and delicate works. Glide to the top of the Space Needle for panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and Puget Sound.

Lake Union

This large, recreational lake is great for renting an electric boat, kayaking and admiring the Seattle skyline. The new South Lake Union Park is open and easily accessible from downtown by Streetcar.

On Lake Union not only was "Sleepless In Seattle" was filmed on a house boat but plenty to watch by the lake front as well. From here Kenmore Air with their seaplanes depart and a company called Argosy Tours depart from here also. On the waters edge is a museum of History and Industry. Plenty to enjoy or just seat down and watch the world go by.

The Fremont Tour

Our 80 minute summer walking tour promotes the quirky public art in Seattle's Fremont District, otherwise known as "The Center of the Universe." Do a search for "Center of the Universe" and Google maps will land you right here in our neighborhood. People in Fremont are called FREMONSTERS and our motto is De Libertas quirkas which in bad Latin means the "freedom to be peculiar." We relish this reputation and despite our playful presentation, we are very serious in explaining why public art is an important community value. Our mission is to "encourage people to find their playfulness through art and history." Come experience Fremont with a FREMONSTER.
