Oyster City Brewing Company

Reviewed By 9desireea - Long Island, United States

I love having a cold glass of beer on a hot day, so imagine my surprise when I ordered a totally unknown IPA from a totally unknown Craft Beer Company, in a city I didn’t even know existed. Welcome to the sleepy and unusual looking little town of Apalachicola, Florida; also known as the Oyster Capital of the World. Tucked in one of the old western-movie-like buildings sits the Oyster City Brewing Company. And inside this extremely weathered looking structure, another one of Apalachicola’s hidden gems is being fermented into the best craft beer to ever hit, my highly discriminating beer palate. I’m not quite sure which was the first one I had. I know it was light in color but not light in substance. I also know, it was so delicious, I had two pints in a row. And if you think that was enough, think again! Because there was no way I was leaving without sampling the Mango IPA. I wish I could describe to you, exactly how great the beer was... but I can’t. I guess if I could, perhaps the beer would not be so good. So hey Anheuser Bush, are you listening... ‘cause you don’t know what you’re missing! Although to tell you the truth, I don’t think Oyster City Beer would ever sell to a non-American brewing company, regardless of who may be. They’re way to proud of what they have managed to craft with the help of some oysters and the wonderful people of Apalachicola!

Home of a solid craft brewery making beers widely distributed in northern and central Florida. Along with those, other beers being made on a smaller scale are available here alone. A small menu of food items, mostly sharables, is available. A large outdoor seating area is available.

Grayton Beer Company

Reviewed By ILoveBourbon - Frankfort, United States

I stopped by with four friends the other week, we had just been to nearby Idyll Hound Brewery and a distillery. Grayton is a much larger scale brewery, so this space was what we expected - large! They can accommodate a large number of people at both the bar and seating area. Looks like there is a stage, so I assume they must have live music. The bartender was very nice and super sweet, he ran to get every dog that came in a bowl of water. Love a place that serves dogs before human, really! Four of us had flights of beers and one had a pint. We had so much fun here that we enjoyed eating at the brewpub for dinner later that night. Don't miss!

At the end of an industrial park but very quite. The beer selection is much better than other local breweries. Outdoor seating is some of the best I've ever seen. Highly recommend a visit to escape the 30a crowd.

3rd Planet Brewing

Reviewed By T1440JTgrahamb - Montreal, Canada

Met the brewer at Whole foods when 3rd Planet took over half the taps. Had a few different pale Ales/IPas that were on tap that evening. The Brewer told me about their "keg tapping" the 1st Friday of every month, the next one being a Dark Mild. Having experienced this dying style in England where I grew up, I was eager to try the 3rd Planet version of this beer. Very true to style, this cask conditioned brew was low in hops and with a low malt profile, but was flavorful from the addition of darker grains. Very refreshing, as it is supposed to be, originally brewed in the northern part of England and the Midland area to quench the thirst of factory workers and miners on their way home from work, with out getting them too inebriated. Great beer, good addition to the regular line up of beers.

Destin Brewery

Loved this little place! They had a decent tap list for a small brewery. Honestly, it looked like a warehouse from the outside but it’s more than that! Staff was delightful. Beers were delicious and reasonable prices. $8 for a flight of 4 beers. We got a crowler to go for $10, too. Highly recommend, but check their hours before you go because they are limited

Ology Brewing

Reviewed By TryppAdams - Minneapolis, United States

I was passing through Tallahassee and in the mood for a good craft beer so was excited to find Ology. They serve beer and have a food truck with a limited menu, but have a pretty good range of beers on tap. I found several I loved, mostly their Hazy IPA's. Friendly staff serves up good beer, everything is available in a sample size and the bartender clued me in on a gas station near by that sells craft beer singles and had a great selection.

Odd Colony Brewing Company

Odd Colony Brewing Co is a farmhouse inspired brewery with a heavy focus on seasonality. We believe this philosophy transcends beer as we ebb and flow through all mediums including our seasonal art wall. Our approach to beer is lead by this ethos but also contains ample beverage fitting to our notoriously hot climate as we have a heavy focus on lagerbier, saison, and IPA.
