One of many beautiful capes or pointes in Bretagne. Very nice late at night, when you can be all alone, when there is still just enough light to enjoy it

Ok it's can be named as the edge of the world, breathtaking natural beauty...amazing place to visit. ***Attention **** though sun protection is absolutely necessary **** It is a walk in a one went path but there is no shadow at all there and there is some wind, we can say it's almost cold....and here is the tricky part, it doesnt feel at all like you need sun protection but if you dont want to end up with serious sun burns really cover you :) And enjoy the magic!

Viaduct

Reviewed By 842JonathanL - Wisbech, United Kingdom

Went to Morlaix twice during our recent stay in Carantec. Such a beautiful town with lovely shops and restaurants. What grabs your attention though, right from the moment you look around is the viaduct. Built in just 2 years (1861-1863) the top part is still used as a train line and the bottom is a pedestrian walkway which strides over the town. The steps are a bit of an effort but totally worth it and has to be done. Each archway has its own spotlight and I just wished I could've seen how they lit it up at night as I'm sure it would've been breathtaking. There is a lovely information board in the middle looking over the town centre with a lovely view at the Hotel de Ville opposite (another gorgeous building). There is even a little part of it giving you the details in English for those who's French isn't what it should be lol. If there are any drawbacks they are few. The side that I scaled the steps of there was no access for our pushchair meaning it had to stay at the bottom while we made the slow climb with 2 small children (who actually really enjoyed the steps and are still young enough to see steps as fun, rather than the soul-crushing pathway to misery they truly are!). The other drawback is that like all these things, the time needed to get everything out of the experience is short, so if you were making a trip especially for the viaduct then prepare for a short stop. On the plus side, Morlaix is truly lovely and well worth spending a diverting afternoon lounging around it's shops and cafe's. In conclusion, while the viaduct itself may not be worth going a long way out of your way for, the town of Morlaix with the viaduct and everything in it, really is!

It was great to walk around an experience the atmosphere of the Chateau, and an excellent guidebook is provided (in French and English)) that explains the history and features of the building. The boat trip to get to the Chateau only adds to the experience. Great views also of the Baie de Morlaix from the tower.

Pointe de la Torche

Reviewed By Uslondon5

We came here as an extended family of 11 (kids and adults). Some wanted to bodyboard, some wanted to surf, some wanted to chill, and others wander and explore. It ticked everyone's boxes! Parking was plentiful (in the morning anyway) and the beach vast and lovely. A few of our group needed to hire wetsuits and surf boards which was easy to do. We didn't have to give an exact time we wanted them for which worked very well. Surfers and bodyboarders are separated, and lifeguards are there to make sure everyone adheres to this and are safe. Waves were reasonable when we went which was great for our fairly beginner surf group who managed to get up onto the board lots of times, and wonderful for the bodyboarders who loved whizzing along when catching a good wave. A couple of downsides: 1. The toilets next to the cafe were awful. 2. 2 of our group got stung by a Weever Fish. These fish injected poison into 2 of our surfers. 1 of them was enjoying himself so much he left it for about an hour and had to be pulled into the beach as the pain got progressively worse throughout that time and he couldn't stand or walk. Thankfully a lovely Frenchman on the beach spoke perfect English and asked what was wrong and explained the Weever Fish problem and directed our son to First Aid who put his foot (and my nephew's too) into hot water which apparently draws the poison out. All okay after 30mins or so! Advice is to seek First Aid as soon as sting happens rather than wait for poison to spread! Despite these 2 downsides, we still absolutely loved this place, would definitely return and recommend anyone else to go there.

Ancienne Abbaye de Landevennec

Open from june 21st to 1st of November. The ruins of the abbey stand on the banks of the river Aulne, in a magnificent setting. The abbey was founded by St Guenole at the end of the 5th Century. It was burnt down by the Vikings in 913. Many times rebuilt, the abbey disappears after the French revolution before its rebirth in 1950 near its original site. The museum displays artefacts discovered during archaeological excavations. It traces the eventful past of this abbey steeped in Briton History for more than 15 centuries. The medieval physic garden is inspired by archaeological discoveries and by mediaeval texts. It is modelled on a monastic garden from c. 900 AD. The virtues of these forgotten plants are drawing attention once again nowadays in cuisine and in "Granny's" herbal teas

Such a beautiful village. Every step looks like a postal card. We've been amazed by the beauty of it! Elected in 2020 at "number 4 most favorite village of France" by the French (there is a annual competition), and it really deserved it. We walked in the village, bought biscuits at the "Traou Mad" (tastefull things in breton) biscuits shop, went for lunch (lots of choice), went to to the museum, walked again, went to the see the chaptel afterwards at the top of Pont Aven (by car, we were tired), what a great and beautilful day!
