What to do and see in Faro, Algarve: The Best Things to do Adventurous

July 26, 2021 Tonie Szymanski

Faro is the best-known city in Portugal’s deservedly famous Algarve region. There’s an archaeological museum and a “Bishops’ Palace,” a Renaissance cathedral that was heavily bombed during World War II, but later rebuilt. Nearby in Estoi are Roman ruins, and Albufeira, also nearby, is a formerly quaint fishing village influenced by the Moors in the 8th century. It’s situated in a cliffside location, and has become famous for its beaches (there are 20) and nightlife.

Run by our WSA certified instructors we offer 2 hour tours throughout the year. Stand up paddle boarding is fairly easy to master and especially so in Faro's glassy, calm and protected marina. After a few minutes of expert instruction, you'll be chomping at the bit to get out into the rich water life of the Ria Formosa. This 60km long natural park and wetland stretches from Faro eastwards (almost to Spain). We also offer tours to the spectacular cliffs, caves and coves near Armacao de Pera at 11h15 every day. Additionally we run an 08h30 stand up paddle tour into the majestic Benagil Sea Cave.
